solongstatusquo-dionne: June 2008
http://solongstatusquo-dionne.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 16, 2008. Just call me Esmerelda. She tapped her finger and nothing happened and she thought she had lost her magic, but it had only changed and it took her awhile to figure it out. Then this got me to thinking about the show, Bewitched. It feels like I'm sort of tripping through that "awhile" period, so that must make me Esmeralda. Thursday, June 12, 2008. Are you afraid to try or are you afraid to fail? Why did we stop taking risks? Those chances are gone forever - but you'll have more in ...

Spencer D. Wood, Kansas State University. Black Farmers and Black Land Loss. I have been interested for some time in the black land movement and especially encourage you to follow links and find out more about it. Black land loss is a considerable problem. As Melvin Oliver and Thomas Shapiro have recently brought to our attention in their important book, Black Wealth/White Wealth. Journal of Pan African Studies, 5:6(Sept)16-36. At the Edge of Everything: Reconsidering Evangelism
http://mshoemakerwv.blogspot.com/2014/07/reconsidering-evangelism.html
At the Edge of Everything. Old thoughts, occasional new thoughts, and shameless book promotion. Tuesday, July 15, 2014. From Escaping Self Idolatry: How Churches of Christ are finding their way into the future, by Tony Branch. Salvation isn't about a single moment that draws a line between Heaven and Hell; it is about the beginning of a life-long transformation. Salvation is joining in the Kingdom of God and changing your life in a way that makes you a full-fledged citizen of the only nation that wil...

At the Edge of Everything: One
http://mshoemakerwv.blogspot.com/2014/07/one.html
At the Edge of Everything. Old thoughts, occasional new thoughts, and shameless book promotion. Monday, July 14, 2014. And this is where we are going. Many, maybe most, of us have grown tired of our isolation, tired of our infighting, tired of our majoring in doctrines that separate rather than those that unify. Like Barton Stone dreamed, we are ready to “sink into union with the Body of Christ at large.”. From Escaping Self Idolatry: How Churches of Christ are finding their way into the future.

Twist 'n Shout: June 2008
http://carolynmcbryde.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 03, 2008. Dear airport sign makers,. ARRIVALS and DEPARTURES . is that your best stuff? So far, every time I drive to the airport, I am arriving. I may be arriving to pick up someone or arriving to drop off someone but,. Maybe they should require experience in elementary carpool signage before one gets promoted to airports. Try DROP OFF and PICK UP, and then maybe I wouldn't have to go around and around so many times before I get it right. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Twist 'n Shout: Color Committment
http://carolynmcbryde.blogspot.com/2008/08/color-committment.html
Wednesday, August 27, 2008. I think my life would be simpler if I had a signature color. If you ask me what my favorite color is, I'd probably say.it depends. Am I wearing it or decorating with it? Is it a purse or a Sharpie? These things matter to me. I still go back to my childhood of shopping for school clothes and supplies. None of this 'if the shoes fits, buy it in every color' business. We got one pair, and it had to go with everything. Think Debbie.Think pink. Love that lady in red. They're both f...

Twist 'n Shout: January 2008
http://carolynmcbryde.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Does That Make Me Crazy? I like to run over dead squirrells in the road. There I've said it. Does that make me crazy? When I see a dead one in the road (not live ones, mind you) and I don't have to move into oncoming traffic, I just run over it. I wouldn't run over big animals. Dogs or cats or beavers or skunks. Well, unless Sarah S was in the car with me, and then I would hit a dead skunk because she likes the smell. Does that make her crazy? Apologies to Ryan N). Yesterday wa...

Twist 'n Shout: Stop the Paparazzi
http://carolynmcbryde.blogspot.com/2008/07/stop-paparazzi.html
Wednesday, July 02, 2008. Somebody stop the madness. I love a good photo-op as much as the next photographer. I have some candid shots of Matt and Scott that I treasure and plan to use as entertainment for the grandchildren someday. I've seen the celebrities take a camera and take photos of the paparazzi. Doesn't phase them. But let me get a photo of their mamas in bikinis on the beach, and I'm telling you this outrageous behavior will come to a complete halt. Just call us .The Stop-a-raz...

Twist 'n Shout: Many Not So Happy Returns
http://carolynmcbryde.blogspot.com/2008/05/many-not-so-happy-returns.html
Sunday, May 25, 2008. Many Not So Happy Returns. I have a love/hate relationship with Target. Love to shop there. Hate to return anything there. On September 1st, 2005 we spent Labor Day cleaning out our garage.I know that because it was the day I walked out of the Allen store vowing never to shop at Target again. So I showed them. And lugged my big heavy shelf home. In the 105 degree heat. While I was waiting for the manager (! I called my sister so I could complain out loud to someone and still be in e...

Twist 'n Shout: Bless Our Hearts
http://carolynmcbryde.blogspot.com/2008/11/bless-our-hearts.html
Tuesday, November 04, 2008. 6 month old Mark and I needed to run to the store to pick up a few baby items. His parents were out of the country on a mission trip. He and I were on our own mission trip. On our way to check out, I cruised by the stationery department. (Next to office supplies, these are some of my favorite aisles.) I was looking for the perfect card when a young woman interrupted me, "Excuse me. May I ask your opinion about something? Empty basket. No clues. I don't think I'm as concerned a...
