*** Marriage, What Now? June 28, 2015 3:38 pm. For those who want to scream and blame the Supreme Court, please listen to what I am about to say. This was inevitable, I think. In my opinion, the real mistake was not just now made by SCOTUS, it was made way back in the mid 1800’s when the U.S. simply adopted European marriage standards. What were we thinking? Would we be okay with the government licensing baptisms and communion, too? As we know it, should never have existed in the United States of America.
