https://tisfortraining.wordpress.com/2015/04/03/t-is-for-training-159-i-was-on-a-bit-of-a-rant

T is for Training. Sharing knowledge since 2008. T is for Training 159: I was on a bit of a rant…. April 3, 2015 in Uncategorized. Libraries are all about lifelong learning. How do we support/push/encourage people towards learning about things that they don’t know (and perhaps even don’t know what they don’t know)? How do we get people to become sponges soaking up information and skills, rather than mugs waiting to be filled with knowledge? The crew talked about. Many aspects of this, including:. Laquo; ...

https://marginalian.wordpress.com/2012/06/18/cpd23-once-more-with-feeling-or-thing-5-reflective-practice

CPD23: Once More, With Feeling. Or, Thing 5: Reflective Practice. Last year I started the 23 Things for Professional Development. Course, but got sidetracked after Thing 4. In fact, I got sidetracked from the blog entirely – I think I felt that I couldn’t post until I was ready to finish the 23 things! I’ve been thinking about this more as I am (finally) reading Char Booth’s book. Reflective Teaching, Effective Learning. I heard Char speak on this subject at a California Conference on Library Instruction.

CPD23: Things 8&9: Google Calendar and Evernote. Once again, I’m going to combine two things into one to try to get caught up. Since both Thing 8 and Thing 9 are individual productivity tools, I should be able to handle them both in one post without getting too long-winded. I love this tool! Why I Heart ALA | the bluestocking librarian

https://bluestockinglibrarian.wordpress.com/2012/06/20/why-i-3-ala

Why I Heart ALA. June 20, 2012 at 7:00 pm. My fiance cannot comprehend ALA. He’s a math professor and goes to lots of math conferences every year, but even the largest of them can’t hold a candle to ALA Annual. To give you some perspective, the biggest math conference of the year can fit in New Orleans at the same time two other academic disciplines (political science and religious studies) are holding. Conferences in the city! Local businesses put out welcome. And guess who’s taking him up on that?

WHEN I’M ASKED IF I’VE READ ALL THE BOOKS IN THE LIBRARY. WHEN SOMEONE’S BROWSING IN THE AISLE I NEED TO RESHELVE IN. Throwback Thursday: Originally posted 7/31/2012. That mixed berry yogurt. Or, Why You Should’ve Just Let Your Mom Fix Your Hair in Seventh Grade). 8212; kimbolee @ 9:10 PM. Insert raucous applause for mom here. I’d venture to say that the Baby-Sitters Club girls were like the Sex and the City girls of their day. I was definitely a Mary Ann, (who I guess grew up to be Charlotte? Karen the Librarian

My name is Karen. I'm a librarian. I like to do crafty stuff. Wednesday, April 6, 2016. So, I'm selling most of my purse making supplies. I still have some items for sale at Artisans at Work. But won't be restocking. And I'm not quite sure yet to do with my Etsy shop. Most of what I sell there is buttons, anything larger and the high cost of shipping is a deterrent. Monday, 21 September 2015. RBSCG conference 2015: Hidden collections: revealed. In the first week of September I attended one day of the CILIP RBSCG. The conference was split between Friends' House Library. And the Friday was at the British Library's conference centre. Where they have possibly the comfiest conference seats I have ever sat on. The conference had been divided up into six sessions, and I was there for the final two. Session five was uncovering your collections - promotion. Adrian concluded ...

Observations of a Librarian

Observations of a Librarian. Wednesday, January 25, 2012. China Mieville: Normally, I don't comment on books before I finish them, but I just wanted to say a few things about China Mieville's foray into YA lit. It reminds me very much, so far, of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere. With the idea of a London that exists alongside and unknown to the London of our reality. For its lovely cover. I've continued to read his novels and short stories and he has yet to disappoint me. Although Un Lun Dun. In volume 1, Medle...

August 2016. Moscow is the newest chapter, and the adventures will be frequent and absurd. Thursday, November 24, 2016. On Food: The Diagnosis That Started it All. While I’m on the subject of cooking, I am interested in talking about food. My diet has become stricter and stricter in recent months, and I’m noticing some changes in my body as a result of the healthy eating. But let me begin from when the journey started. In April, I was diagnosed with something called PCOS, Polycystic. And then there were.
