Life After Jerusalem: Përshëndetje nga Kosova
http://lifeafterjerusalem.blogspot.com/2015/08/pershendetje-nga-kosova.html
The musings of a Two-Spirit American Indian, Public Diplomacy-coned Foreign Service Officer. Sunday, August 09, 2015. View of Pristina from our Balcony. I made it to Kosovo. I had expected to arrive tomorrow with Oskar, one of our cats, and Noostie, our dog. Instead, I arrived Thursday with Oskar and Cayenne, our bird. Let me back up. The whole language training fiasco. Oh, and I got my waiver, on July 29. But I opted to test anyway, because I really believed I was at a 3/3 or better. In the meantime, I ...

Life After Jerusalem: Winding Down
http://lifeafterjerusalem.blogspot.com/2010/06/winding-down.html
The musings of a Two-Spirit American Indian, Public Diplomacy-coned Foreign Service Officer. Tuesday, June 15, 2010. I have just over two days left in my current office. And I have NOTHING to do. My replacement arrived two weeks before my departure, a rare gift in the Foreign Service. For the first week, she watched me as I did my work. This week, she is doing it herself. I am only here to answer questions. And she hasn't had any. I think it may be possible to die of boredom. I think you could be right!
Life After Jerusalem: Gay marriage: until deportation do us part?
http://lifeafterjerusalem.blogspot.com/2008/07/gay-marriage-until-deportation-do-us.html
The musings of a Two-Spirit American Indian, Public Diplomacy-coned Foreign Service Officer. Thursday, July 03, 2008. Gay marriage: until deportation do us part? A friend sent me this article. It was posted yesterday by Reuters. This problem is particularly common among those in the Foreign Service, who like their heterosexual collegues, often meet and fall in love with their spouses while overseas. The problem would be solved by the Uniting American Families Act. Gay rights activists estimate that 40,00...

Frequent Flyer McGuires: July 2014
http://flyermcguires.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 28, 2014. The weekends here in Turkey are our time to get away as a family and have fun. The weekdays can be hectic with work, school/summer camp/swim lessons for E, half marathon training, cooking, cleaning, bath time, pumping, nursing.well, you get the idea. Even little D gets exhausted from his Monday through Friday routine of tummy time and drooling with the nanny. But Saturday and Sunday is when we throw out routine and try to get away. The view from the restaurant. E and the ducks.
* A Different Perspective *: December 2013
http://diffperspect.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
A Different Perspective *. Follow our lives abroad from Bangladesh to El Salvador. Friday, December 27, 2013. Baby Sea Turtle Release. On a Saturday morning, we drove about an hour and a half to Playa el Pimental to see and release baby turtles into the Pacific Ocean. There's a wonderful organization for the conservation of turtles in El Salvador, FUNZEL. Another interesting fact is that the female turtles that live to maturity end up nesting on the same beach where they hatched. Links to this post.
You Know It’s DC. . . » Undiplomatic

Charles J. Brown. You Know It’s DC. . . When you go to a wedding reception and people are in an adjacent room, watching CNN. It was when CNN was speculating about Biden’s choice angering the Hillary dead-enders. Thank you, MSM, for once again needlessly focusing on the worst-case scenario. The toasting-dancing-eating part of the reception started too early (and ended too late) for me to watch the speeches. If I had tried to sneak out to that adjacent room, Molly would have killed me. Or the Right One?

The Maguire Wire: Don't be the Bunny
http://travelingmaguires.blogspot.com/2015/02/dont-be-bunny.html
The adventures of Teddy Danger and Josephine, diplobrats. Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Don't be the Bunny. I am resisting the urge to title this post Dumb Bunnies. As it carries the double meaning of non-noise making creatures and their collective nickname. "Those dumb bunnies knocked over their food again." And Fucking Bunnies. As an adjective and a verb heard frequently as in, "Those fucking bunnies are doing it again! I attempt to attach to our new pets, the as yet unnamed, brown bunny and black bunny.

Frequent Flyer McGuires: June 2015
http://flyermcguires.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 16, 2015. It was a fun day. We even got sun burns! The sun's rays at this altitude are nothing to mess around with. Sunscreen for everyone next time. In other news, my boys are learning Spanish! D can actually say three words now: Hola, Agua and Gracias. And E comes home every day with new songs that he has memorized and new phrases or words that his teachers taught him. It's time for mom to get on the ball and start taking lessons of her own! Proudly waving his flag. E is at the top! It Mi...
Frequent Flyer McGuires: June 2014
http://flyermcguires.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 30, 2014. But instead of focusing on the fact that they are gone, I choose to focus on the fond memories. The last couple weeks especially, were full of good times, from a traditional Turkish dinner (with belly dancer! To a fun-filled day at the water park, to a farewell family BBQ and last but not least, the Consulate Independence Day party where we all (maybe) had a bit too much drink that night. Afternoon at the pool - E and his buddy. Day at the water park with all the kids. As I said ea...
Frequent Flyer McGuires: Botero
http://flyermcguires.blogspot.com/2015/08/botero.html
Thursday, August 6, 2015. Bad food aside, the museum was wonderful. I love when the architecture of the building feels like a part of the artwork on display. I've said that about the Guggenheim, and I will say that about this place. The old colonial vibe just made it all the more enjoyable. I'm not quite sure what this building is, but it was right outside. The museum and I thought it was gorgeous. Ditto with this building. I will find out, I promise! The Botero hand at the entrance to the museum. Victor...

Hopping to a New Normal...
Sunday, November 18, 2012. Now for the good. First off my two beautiful living children are well and healthy. M is now 4 and my rainbow V is 16 months. I still get little hellos from heaven. This frog, my students named Hoppy, was hanging outside my classroom window. I loved it! Although I have become a single working mom, I now cherish the time I do have with my kids that much more. A basketball team that takes the class for cardio and my two zumba buddies. NBA Finals.GO HEAT! My Best friend Lydia.

Life After Jerusalem
The musings of an Out and Proud Foreign Service Officer. Thursday, February 08, 2018. It has been more than a year since I have posted. (Trust me, it is not that I have had nothing to say.) And in that time, you have no doubt heard about the mass exodus from the State Department. A fair number of more junior folks have left as well. Many are now on Facebook insisting you have to leave or be complicit with the current administration. But I don't believe that. And so I am still here. There is a good piece.

Life After Joel
My beloved husband of 9 months and man of my dreams since I first walked into Trillians Rock Bar in Newcastle way back in 1996, sadly passed away aged 34. This blog is my life day by day trying to come to terms with his death . this is the story of my 'Life After Joel'. Sunday, 15 June 2014. 3 Years now. is it easier? Well, that I think rather depends on how you view things, assess them and process too. Or getting high on the contents of helium balloons at a wedding or. SCENE: Joel loping (anyone knowing...

I believe there is Life after John Grisham. I hope to prove it here. Friday, April 24, 2009. Countdown: 12 days to Chile.
