http://steven-leong.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Walk, Eat, Sleep and Photography. Of photos and life in general. Sunday, September 17, 2006. I opened my eyes and I saw; and hence I am sad. Vietnam. a place that has openend my eyes once more to the world. I have been blind for so long, so used to the complexity of city life. the Internet. Credit Cards. e-Banking. e-Commerce. e-everything. Vietnam is place where all things 'modern' seemed unnecessary. Is there anything else for us to be happy with besides getting our next paycheck? One or more of the fo...

Walk, Eat, Sleep and Photography: August 2006
http://steven-leong.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Walk, Eat, Sleep and Photography. Of photos and life in general. Sunday, August 06, 2006. Attended the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2006 the last two days. Was there looking for inspiration, and indeed I did found inspiration, bucket loads of the stuff and suprisingly, I made a few friends. The world of photography isn't that lonely after all. Master Pang said and his images proved that. Larger than life, yet it depicts life itself. amazing yet rooted in reality. Posted by Steven Leong @ 7:49 PM.

Walk, Eat, Sleep and Photography. Of photos and life in general. Friday, August 31, 2007. At the strike of the clock at 12 midnight last night on top of a hillock in Putrajaya Internationl COnvention Center (PICC) at Putrajaya, the new administrative center of Malaysia; "Merdeka! Merdeka". boomed repeteadly on huge speakers across the entire city. (Merdeka translated into "Independence"). What really surprises me is that when the speakers announced, "Raise for the national anthem! Yes, globalisation is h...

Walk, Eat, Sleep and Photography. Of photos and life in general. Thursday, February 08, 2007. Strange twists and turns is what life is about or so a wise old man once told me. Up on a hill in the most unlikely location, with the cool midnight wind blowing. that is the location for my happiest time of life up till today. A moment that I know will probably not be repeatable for a long, long time or maybe nothing else will come close to it ever again. Posted by Steven Leong @ 8:59 PM. Beginning of the end?

Retro Rockin' Sista: You've Never Lived a Working Life Until You've Lived Through a DI.
http://retrosishr.blogspot.com/2010/04/youve-never-lived-working-life-until.html
Tuesday, April 27, 2010. You've Never Lived a Working Life Until You've Lived Through a DI. Hahaha. Not really. But a DI enriches your working experience in ways like no other ways can enrich your working experience. No matter which side of the fence you're on, whether you are the inquiror or the inquiree, emerge victorious or traumatised, a DI will leave its footprint in your inner being long after it's over. That's right, everything's personal in every DI. What's not personal in a DI? The prosecutor ge...

Retro Rockin' Sista: November 2009

Thursday, November 19, 2009. The disbanding of RRHR. Today I disbanded my Facebook HR Group, Rock N Roll HR. I did this was because I personally felt that the Group had not achieved its purpose. When I created the Group I wanted to unite all HR practitioners in JB. Then I opened the membership to all HR practitioners regardless of geographical location. The response was very slow, and not as warm as I would have liked. I don't know whether HR practitioners in Malaysia generally still have not embraced th...

Retro Rockin' Sista: CAVEAT EMPTOR. MONITOR CLOSELY YOUR OUTSOURCED FW AGENT.

Sunday, October 18, 2009. CAVEAT EMPTOR. MONITOR CLOSELY YOUR OUTSOURCED FW AGENT. This post is an expansion to another post of mine entitled "RUFFLED." about outsourced foreign worker agencies which I wrote on 9 September 2009. You cannot even hire foreigners for cutting your chicken or mopping your floor. For good measure, I would also like to remind you that you cannot hire them as front of house crew. So what does your agent do now in view of these circumstances? So what can employers do? Till then, ...

Retro Rockin' Sista: January 2010
http://retrosishr.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 22, 2010. And on the other side of the Causeway, they're putting their shades on. Today’s edition of Singapore’s Straits Times reports that HR consultancy firm Hudson has reported that more companies will be hiring, paying bigger bonuses and boosting starting salaries of new recruits, based from the findings of a survey involving more than 400 executives nationwide in November 2009. No healthier news about increased hiring, let alone bonuses and pay rises. The fact is if they are jobless,...
