Legendary Lighthouses: In the Lighthouse
http://legendarylighthouses.blogspot.com/2010/07/in-lighthouse.html
Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Connecting With the Past. How do I begin to describe it? I tend to fall in with the former. Lighthouses are romantic, mysterious and intriguing. From the first time I set foot inside Admiralty Head. On Whidbey Island, Washington, I was entranced, staring upward at that marvelous nautilus stairway, dizzy at the prospect of climbing the iron steps to the top. But oh! The reward. Stunning does not begin to describe the view from the top. Is a traditional white tower on low ground, no...

http://legendarylighthouses.blogspot.com/2012/08/celebrating-national-lighthouse-day.html
Tuesday, August 7, 2012. Celebrating National Lighthouse Day: Angel's Gate. I thought it might be fun to show a little history of one of my favorite beacons: Los Angeles Harbor Lighthouse, better known around here as Angel's Gate. This is from a 1920 postcard that was undoubtedly hand-tinted. The lighthouse was only 7 years old at this point. Angel's Gate cost $36,000.00 to build. Here is our beautiful beacon after completion of a recent $1.8 million refurbishment. Darkened, and some painted camouflage.
