Lindsay's Literature

Thursday, May 7, 2009. Review of How Deaf Characters Are Portrayed in Children’s Literature. The major flaw in this whole onset is that the characters that are deaf in the books, which I have talked about in my reviews, are not from the perspective of a Deaf person.  . Since these books do not come from an insider’s perspective on Deaf culture, the authors portray deafness as a disability.  . 183;      . Booth, Barbara D.  . Lindsay's Literature: March 2009

http://www.lindsaysliterature.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Last week we were talking about having Spanish written in a book that is primarily English.  Is it really  necessary; does the Spanish add to the book or distract the reader from the English words, interrupting the flow of the reader. I am reading a book for my ENG 379 class right now called, Desert Blood The Juarez Murders. By: Alicia Gaspar de Alba .  . Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Outside Connection To Class. Lindsay's Literature: Gender Roles

http://www.lindsaysliterature.blogspot.com/2009/04/gender-roles.html

Wednesday, April 22, 2009. After talking about gender roles in class today, it made me think of a story that one of my teachers had told me, which really made me think about how parents influence gender roles. 160;She now tries to give her children positive reinforcement by saying that they are being good people! I thought this was very interesting to think about; thinking about how parents reinforce gender roles for their children growing up. April 28, 2009 at 1:53 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Lindsay's List - Because it's fun to mark through things

Lindsay's List - Because it's fun to mark through things. LOSE THE BABY WEIGHT. Because it's fun to mark through things. I opened a gym. Except it’s not really a gym. There are no machines. There are no televisions for you to drone out to while elipticaling. No front desk lady folding towels. So let me rephrase that. I opened a group training studio. And it’s awesome.). Let me go back a little, like way back. Own a gym was on the list. But I digress.). I could write about those years of begging. I love s...

Lindsay's Little Owls Preschool

Lindsay's Little Owls Preschool. Where learning is always a hoot! Monday, November 14, 2011. How fun that Halloween fell on a school day this year! We had a ball dressing up, going on a costume parade, making toilet paper mummies, sorting candy for math, making monster boogers and vampire blood (gak) for science, and eating way too much candy! Scary Toilet Paper Mummies. Sensory Science Lab. While blindfolded we felt brains (spaghetti) and eyeballs (peeled grapes). Sunday, November 13, 2011. The kids als...

Lindsay's Little Thoughts | Issues from a college kid's perspective

Lindsay's Little Thoughts. Found through creative commons. I think we’ve all been there. Scrolling down our Facebook timeline, seeing all the cool things our friends are doing, seeing who they’re with, seeing things you weren’t invited to…and then comparing all the interesting pictures and amazing news to your own life that’s looking more and more boring with every click of your mouse. It can really suck. There are many studies. It does for me personally, anyway. Facebook is the place where I see wha...

Random Thoughts of A ?

Random Thoughts of A? I am a Christian. A sister. A daughter. A friend. A sinner. A youth intern. An artist. A student. A? Question Mark. This blog is going to be filled with my random thoughts. So. Enjoy the ride. Saturday, July 11, 2015. I have a lot to say. I have a lot to say, but my thoughts are not organized enough to create anything remotely coherent. It would only come out as angry word vomit. I could use something therapeutic. Wednesday, May 27, 2015. What a journey though. It's crazy how fo...
