Culture Rut: September 2010

http://culturerut.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, September 1, 2010. It hit me. The little sugar monster inside that began slowly whispering it needed a sweet snack but then grew into a loud, full on bitch fest. Alright, alright- geeze. Deciding to appease the sugar monster, I went in search of something in my abandoned kitchen. To my utter shock and surprise I found the perfect components for a sweet treat hiding in my freezer! Nectar of the gods. A low cal, easy dessert that can be found lurking in your grocers freezer section.

Culture Rut: A Boatload of Fun

http://culturerut.blogspot.com/2010/11/boatload-of-fun.html

Thursday, November 18, 2010. A Boatload of Fun. Why eat the same boring food the same old way? It's time to take it up a notch. Enter the sushi boat at Hana. The unassuming Japanese eatery on 7th Ave is a great spot for some serious sushi. It reminded me of one of my favorite East Village sushi bars- small, but cozy with some dang good food. After finally deciding what to order (I tend to like everything which makes it hard to edit) we opened up our BYOB vino! I love places that offer this option. Ill ad...

I Dance in My Sleep. The personal and political musings of an emerging journalist. You Know You’re in Journalism School When…. November 19, 2009 in Uncategorized. So, for some examples of how journalism has taken over my life:. Last Sunday, I was at Grace Lutheran Church. And those are just stories from the past week. Ever since last year, I practically dream in AP style, and great soundbites automatically catch my attention, even sometimes in basic conversation. It’s been a fun adventure s...8220;You de...

Culture Rut: A McNight to Remember Gala

http://culturerut.blogspot.com/2010/11/mcnight-to-remember-gala.html

Monday, November 15, 2010. A McNight to Remember Gala. I was lucky enough to be invited to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Phoenix gala, celebrating 25 Years of providing a “home-away-from-home” to families with sick loved ones. The charity event took place at none other than the Arizona Biltmore. The evening began with a silent auction with an open bar and passed hors d'oeuvres that appropriately included mini McDonald's cheeseburgers. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Beer, Chocolate, and Frites. The Long Road to Doha. Czech President Signs Lisbon Treaty →. October 26, 2009 · 10:30 pm. The Art of Belgian Beer. Given the title of my blog, I think I am long overdue for a posting about one of my favorite Belgian things: beer. I love that chocolate, cheese, beer, and wine are an art in French/Belgian culture. One of my favorite Belgian beers is Tripel Karmeliet. My other favorite beer is a classic Trappist monk beer called Westmalle Tripel. W. Estmalle Tripel is a clear, ...

Die letzten Wochen waren dazu da, ein bisschen Routine in unser Uni-Leben zu bringen und uns endlich auch an den verschulten Unterricht zu gewöhnen. Da wir weder Ofen noch Mixer haben, hatte sie sich einen M...
