Wednesday, November 19, 2008. My fellow classmates (catching up on blog). My fellow classmates,. I got sick with a flu Sunday night :( I am sorry I couldn't make it to class on Monday. Below is my take on one of the relationships involved in Shakespeare's play. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone would like to provide any feedback/ fill me in about the classroom discussion I went through some of the blogs posted and left a few comments :). Wednesday, October 15, 2008. I choose these four pages for a multitude of reasons, I found them to be interesting parts of Craiogs story but more significantly they aid in understanding the young man Craig evolves into. These excerpts illustrate why Craig is reluctant to engage in intimacy with Raina, why he feels ashamed for harboring such thoughts, and where his internal struggle originated from. Carissas Interpretations: October 2008

Life isn't measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of things that leave us breathless. Monday, October 13, 2008. Beliefs with an update. What do I believe? Joe's Blog: Thoughts on The Bluest Eye

http://joeslitblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/thoughts-on-bluest-eye.html

Monday, September 29, 2008. Thoughts on The Bluest Eye. I'll admit it: I have not gotten far at all in this book. I don't even have it with me. However, I do recall the very curious introduction " See the house. The house is green.". While I'm not positive, I think that is the text of one of the earliest children's books. Of course, in that time, the subject of almost any kind of "mainstream" literature was white. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Thoughts On Literary Interpretation.

Joe's Blog: Dream Country

http://joeslitblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/dream-country.html

Wednesday, November 19, 2008. I haven't read any graphic novels outside this class, so I'm unsure if many others have taken Shakespeare on, and how they compare to the original.  Anyway, from what I've seen/read so far in Dream Country. Gaiman is sort of faithful to A Midsummer Night's Dream. Are actually acted out as a play by the characters.  This is about as far as I've gotten so far, but I find this very peculiar. Kyle's Blog: This is how not to do the multi genre piece

http://kfalkenstein.blogspot.com/2008/11/this-is-how-not-to-do-multi-genre-piece.html

Sunday, November 9, 2008. This is how not to do the multi genre piece. Here is the house. It is green and white. It has a red door. It is very pretty. Here is the family. Mother, Father, Dick, and Jane live in the green and white house. They are very happy. See Jane. She has a red dress. She wants to play. Who will play with Jane? It goes meow- meow. Come and play. Come play with Jane. The kitten will not play. See Mother. Mother is very nice. Mother, will you play with Jane? We all know The Brady Bunch.

http://ashleylitblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/part-ne-persepolis-and-poems.html

Sunday, October 26, 2008. Part One Persepolis and Poems. The poems that were posted all spoke o the text as well. I think each had its own aproach, and addressed the 'good' and 'bad' aspects of war. I think that Satrapi thinks of the war as both good and bad in that she has her own beliefs about what should be happening and what should not be happening. The first part of the book was interesting, and I'll be curious to see how it ends. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The end is in sight.

Literary Interpretation: November 2008

http://ericasantoni.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 19, 2008. In Gaiman's Dream Country,. I feel as if i am left more confused that I ever was before. I feel as if Gaiman absolutely distracts and destroys the classical. For me the story leaves a sense of confusion upon me. These is a lot of mystery amongst the pages and a lot of side conversations that I can't grasp there relationship to everything else. There are bits and pieces of caption taken directly from a midsummer night's dream. And in Dream Country. Sunday, November 16, 2008.

Ashley's Lit Blog: Helena and Demetrius

http://ashleylitblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/helena-and-demetrius.html

Friday, November 14, 2008. So, after reading through A Midsummer Nights Dream,. In the play is a little crazy I think. She almost. Seems to be stalking him. Creepy? I think so. But i guess love can do that? This part of the scene there is an obvious struggle as Demetrius tries to get away from Helena. I think that Helena just wants to feel loved and have someone reciprocate her feelings for a change. Although her character. Seems a bit weird, I think that she just wants to be accepted. Thing about this p...

Kyle's Blog: The Lion's Key

http://kfalkenstein.blogspot.com/2008/10/lions-key.html

Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Ee cummings writes in Next to of Course God America I. And from line 10 to the end of the poem he hits on basically soldiers being slaughtered like cattle. Here's what he writes. Why talk of beauty what could be more beaut-. Itful than these heroic happy dead. Who rushed like lions to the roaring slaughter. Then also in Persepolis there is this same concept going on starting on page 99 it this idea of the key.  "you see this? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Literary Interpretation!

Wednesday, December 3, 2008. 1 As a student, I have really grown from this class. It was nice to have a class for once which was not only interesting, but self reflecting as well. 2 In general, I really enjoyed reading. Oranges are not the Only Fruit. Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Final Self-Evaluation and Class Reflections. This class was designed to allow students to examine both traditional and contemporary literary texts in an attempt to discover how these texts relate, connect, and speak to readers today. Which texts (choose both a "classical" text and a graphic novel) had the most relevance to you as a reader? What types of connections were you able to make? Use specific examples when answering this question. Have these assumptions changed? Gaiman, A...

One day, as Richard is exploring the woodlands, he happens upon a frightening scene: four large mounted troops are in pursuit of a young woman, Kahlan Amnell. Richard comes to the maiden's aid, subsequently learning that she has somehow crossed the Boundary in search of the First Wizard, who came to Westland during the creation of the boundary. The most interesting feature of the world in my opinion is the band of dominatrix torturers known as the Mord Sith...
