Turquoise sterling silver delicate charm necklace. I fell instantly in love! Here are a few snaps of an outfit I wore last week. The white eyelet dress is made from organic cotton and is perfect for summer weather! I love it. Confession: I bought it at C&A in the mommy section. And I went strolling through the city. We both loved them so much that we each bought a pair! If you're ever in Berlin, check them out - http:/ prinzessinnengarten.net/about/. Eating area amidst the beautiful trees. The Standard h...

My talented sister Nia. Created this cute birthday invitation for my birthday party this month! I love how simple and chic it is! Illustration by Simone Rea – from 'L'uomo dei palloncini / The balloon man' (written by Giovanna Zoboli). Here's a cake that I made last week! It's a vegan cheesecake.now doesn't that just sound like a walking contradiction? It definitely is. :) But you honestly cannot taste the difference and you also feel less guilty when eating it ;) There's also no baking involved! In the ...

Didn't have the best day today and this quote is a good reminder to me to not beat myself up over mistakes that I make. Hopefully this week will get brighter :). My lovely friend Sasha (check out her Instagram- she travels the world like you wouldn't know @the sasha) gave me these gifts for my birthday (in a month). She flew into Groningen to stay for a couple of weeks to meet with her adviser before she jets off to Russia for a month! Suggest checking them out! Yep you guessed it! I've been to Finland a...

Mel & Liza: Ideas for an IKEA Hack
http://melandliza.blogspot.com/2013/01/ideas-for-ikea-hack.html
Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Ideas for an IKEA Hack. Now that our busy Christmas schedule has calmed down some and my painting deadlines were met, I'm excited to be able to get back to a few projects around the house. A while ago it became very clear that we desperately needed more storage space for our clothes, especially during bulky sweater season, and a well timed trip to IKEA provided us with a solution. We assembled it right away and have been using it as-is (I told you we were desperate! Looks with...

Mel & Liza: May 2015
http://melandliza.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 14, 2015. Ginger and I are working on a friend's apartment in Gramercy Park. The space has wonderful potential, and we have been happily sending our favorite links for inspiration. The apartment has two beautiful panels that are hand painted. G and I wanted to accentuate what the space has so when we found a beautiful teal sofa at Dwell Studio, we knew we had our starting place. Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Here are my top pics…. Mel & Liza: Sewing a Box Pleated Bedskirt
http://melandliza.blogspot.com/2013/05/sewing-box-pleated-bedskirt.html
Monday, May 20, 2013. Sewing a Box Pleated Bedskirt. As we have been working on clearing out our middle room upstairs, it has again become clear that we need to come up with some new ways of finding extra storage space. With no accesible attic space and only a tiny cellar, storing off season clothes and less used items poses a bit of a challenge- and up to this point we have just been stacking unsightly plastic bins in corners all over the upstairs. As the base for the bedskirt I used an old fitted sheet...

Mel & Liza: November 2014
http://melandliza.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Flect on our lives and give thanks. I know as we prepare for one of the most wonderful and anxious seasons of the year, taking a moment to be grateful for what our season is about will be what gets us all through December. If you need a place to rest and breath there are two things I suggest. UNO: Stop in at Calvary- St. Georges Church. DOS: Pick up the Mockingbird-Zine. You will find real respite within the pages of each magazine. Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I love how t...

Mel & Liza: June 2015
http://melandliza.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 18, 2015. Welcome, Little Tucker! Welcome to the world, Tucker! On April 23, one day before her due date, this precious little angel joined us. After all of these years of praying for a baby and so many months wondering what she'd be like, actually meeting her, holding her, and getting to bring her home with us was all incredibly surreal. I am just now starting to wade back into life again to write some emails, thank you notes, and blog posts after being hopelessly and happily behind.
