Uganda 2009

Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Kind of sad I missed the actual day this year. And by that, I mean the anniversary of when I left the USA for Uganda. It was the 8th. We arrived in Uganda the 9th. I can almost see Kwagala, my family's cow, waiting for me to come home (you'll have to read my blog for that story.). I'm incredibly thankful for the USP semester of Spring 2009, an experience that blessed me then and that continues to challenge and bless, and change, me now. Friday, January 8, 2010. I finished hal...

Uganda 2009: March 2009

http://www.livinginuganda.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 24, 2009. It’s an exciting opportunity to lead a campus worship service and minister to our fellow students. This week the pace is beginning to pick up as far as school goes. I counted the days today and realized I only have 25 days before the school semester is finished and we leave for our Rwanda trip. That’s crazy! On Saturday evening we were free for a bit and some friends and I went tree climbing. I haven't climbed a tree in years! Monday, March 16, 2009. Alright. That’s all...This is...

Uganda 2009: September 2009

http://www.livinginuganda.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 21, 2009. I'm certainly not at that stage in my life yet. I'll settle for being a late bloomer :). The reunion was great- God has blessed me with a wonderful extended family. Finally, in mid-August, I returned to Milligan after being away for around 8 months. And things have certainly changed. Most of my close friends have graduated and moved on, and Abby, my lovely roommate, is abroad in Egypt this semester. I miss her dearly! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Welcome to my blog! Uganda 2009: April 2009

http://www.livinginuganda.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 9, 2009. Very Much Needed Update: Less than a month in Uganda to Go! I now have internet access and my computer seems to be virus free. That means I can at last update my blog. So here goes. This weekend I am cooking a meal for my family. It’s something we’re required to do. I’m supposed to cook an American meal. I think I am going to attempt spaghetti. It could be interesting. Spaghetti, garlic bread, maybe eggs? Don’t exactly go with spaghetti, but this is Africa right? Bye Mizungu, Bye...

Living in Two Languages

Monday, December 27, 2010. It's been a while, but this blog grew out of my inability to find anything on the internet when I searched for certain keywords, and now I'm finding that same situation again. So I thought I'd put my own thoughts out there for the next person who might travel my path. Asexual people, then, have one fewer major ta'avah. In their lives. But it does make it difficult to start a family if you're not willing to have sex. But then again, maybe I just haven't met the right guy. The ma...

the Unknown Now | between what was and what will be

The Alchemist’s Laboratory. We exist in the Unknown Now. Between the making and unmaking of what was;. And the expectation and uncertainty of what will be. To the place between worlds where the truth is yet to be revealed. All our assumptions live on the other side of the mystery. Why do we seek certainty when “knowing” is the very thing that haunts us? If only certainty can engender the kind of suffering we seek safety from, then why oh why do we head directly into its path? A no nonsense approach to th...

Oh, Korea

Friday, November 14, 2014. A friend posted a video on facebook titled "Americans try Korean snacks for the first time." I assumed it would be pretty entertaining so I clicked on it, and it did not disappoint. And guess what? I've eaten everything they've eaten, minus the fish sausage, because why would you ever do that to yourself? Wanna know what I think about all these foods? Rice cake - Yum! Fish shaped ice cream sandwich - Anything shaped like a fish is fun in my book! Wednesday, October 29, 2014.
