Living the Rustic Life: March 2012

http://livingtherusticlife.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Living the Rustic Life. Thumb Tack: Homemade Yogurt. Buying high-quality, full-fat, organic yogurt can be expensive. I have paid as much as 5 dollars for only two to three servings before. Of course it depends on the grocery store, but in general it's just too darn expensive. Plus, it's made from unhealthy milk raised and pasteurized on concentrated animal feeding operations. To make yogurt even healthier than the stuff from the store. Plain yogurt, Greek yogurt. Look out for my feature. On homemade yogu...

Living the Rustic Life: Homemade Topsy Turvy Planter

http://livingtherusticlife.blogspot.com/2013/05/homemade-topsy-turvy-planter.html

Living the Rustic Life. Homemade Topsy Turvy Planter. So, you spent all spring keeping your tomato plants warm and well-watered. You grew a few extra from seed as an insurance policy, but now they're just sitting there wilting while the others happily flourish in the garden. What's a homesteader to do? No guarantees this will work, but it's worth a shot. Anyone else have any luck growing tomato plants upside down? Let us know in the comments! Posted by Nicholas Living the Rustic Life @ 4:36 PM. What can really break the bank is getting gifts for the whole extended family - aunts, uncles, grandmas, cousins, great-uncle George's best friend (who is that guy who always ends up at the family Christmas party? That buys maybe half a shirt? Then you think, Hmmm, perhaps something homemade. BUT THIS YEAR I DID SOMETHING RIGHT. This year I made a plan.

Living the Rustic Life: Thumb Tack: Is Soy Lecithin harmless?

http://livingtherusticlife.blogspot.com/2013/05/thumb-tack-is-soy-lecithin-harmless.html

Living the Rustic Life. Thumb Tack: Is Soy Lecithin harmless? I came across this article. This morning over at Girl Meets Nourishment. About soy lecithin and how it's not just a harmless food additive that we can forget about. And as usual when reading an article about some hidden health concern, I was disgusted.and annoyed.and frustrated. But yet again, this just confirms that we need to continue to make the shift to an agrarian life in which our food is produced either by us or our local farmers. Yes, ...

Team Bivens

Thursday, July 1, 2010. So we found heaven today.its in Oregon and its Pinot. Country. B and i woke up early after a late night for B, to head out to pinot. Country. We stopped at a place called Burgerville. On the way. It is a local "fast food" chain and was awesome. All the beef, vegetables and dairy are organic and local, all paper and plastic is recycled and bio degradable. Very neat concept, and not that much more expensive than a traditional fast food restaurant. A little piece of puppy paradise.

Living the RV Life » Not just another RV'ing blog

Cooking on the road. Posted in Full-Time RV. Let’s face it: RV kitchens are a challenge under the best of circumstances. Throw in a lack of storage, weight considerations, and unfamiliarity with the local shopping options and you have a recipe for home cooking failure. But with some planning and a careful choice of appliances, you can overcome and become adept at preparing gourmet meals within your limitations. Posted in Full-Time RV. One thing I missed growing up in California was the colors of fall, so...
