Exploring and taking advantage of Summerland, BC's bounty of food. Tuesday, March 11, 2008. This isn't exactly local, but it's the closest I've found so far. This company. Mills organic flours in Kelowna. I've purchased them at a health food store in Penticton and use it in any spelt baking I do. The buckwheat flour adds some heft to our "power" pancakes. I haven't tried the basic whole wheat and all-purpose flours yet but will likely do so in the near future. March 24, 2008 at 2:53 PM.

I was horrified last night when I was closing up for the night to find that there were about 100 mosquitoes on my kitchen ceiling and walls. Yikes! I have no bug spray in the house and really wouldn't want to use a toxic spray in my kitchen anyway. But I grabbed my spray bottle, put in 1/2 cup of water, added 1/4 tsp of dish soap and three drops of peppermint oil. I shook it a bit and started spraying. No more skeeters. :). Eat Close To Home.
