Toomeytales: May 2014
http://toomeytales.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 31, 2014. After six weeks of waiting and wondering, we found out last week that Miss Mouse repeated her win in the PBS Kids Young Writers and Illustrators Contest! She was chosen as a Red Ribbon Favorite again this year! A turtle, butterfly, and ladybug lived in the woods. The butterfly's name was Fluttery. The turtle's name was Slowy, amd the ladybug's name was Spotty. They were all friends. The truck said, "Zoomy." The truck asked, "What are your names? The turtle replied, "Slowy.". Slowy...

Toomeytales: February 2015
http://toomeytales.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 6, 2015. Thursday nights are our hectic ones these days, and, really, compared to a lot of families I hear talking, ours aren't all that hectic at all! Semi-clean up the dinner mess, pajama everyone left in the house except myself, and load us all up alone only to arrive at dance, unload my workbeast of a stroller, and haul us all in to reclaim our dancer. Anyway, it was a fun night until Manly woke up from what apparently was a "nap" and stayed awake until 2 am. Fast forward to last Thu...

Toomeytales: June 2014
http://toomeytales.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 30, 2014. The girls have talked about having a lemonade stand now for two summers. Perhaps because as a child I put so much effort and hope into my own lemonade stands and had very little success, I didn't act on their excitement until now. There were always excuses - we're too busy; it's too hot; it's too windy; it's too cold, etc. The best part, the part that melted my heart entirely, is that they were over-the-moon excited about this lemonade stand because they are using it as a way to ra...

Toomeytales: July 2014
http://toomeytales.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Which is when Little Boy burst into tears. And right then two sets of big eyes turned to me and asked if those kids didn't know that the winning wasn't the most important thing. If they didn't know that just performing and making others happy by showing them a beautiful dance was the point of it all. Oh, girls. It's you who don't know, I'm afraid. But I also feel a twinge of sadness when a couple of bands choose to do original songs and are met with comments like, "Oh (say it wi...

Toomeytales: March
http://toomeytales.blogspot.com/2015/03/march.html
Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Maybe these two look alike? In the above photo, Mighty Mouse (lower photo) had just finished making a play-doh car. Well, I'd made the car under his direction while I was reading a history text with my other eye (apparently I can separate my eyes for separate tasks these days! And he had added a trailer on the back and then plopped another play-doh toy on his trailer and announced, "There's the dead deer! Notice how proud he is? I'm not sure where my tiny baby went. So, it's ei...

Toomeytales: October 2014
http://toomeytales.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Ten Years in the Making. Ten years ago, Mike and I bought a framed, baby/child backpack. We bought it because we were expecting a baby, were super excited, and planned that we'd be taking that baby with us on our hikes, even if that meant our hikes had to decrease in length a bit. We totally expected to include that baby in the activities we enjoyed together. And then we didn't get to include that little baby in anything. They enjoyed themselves thoroughly! How I wish this wer...

Toomeytales: January 2014
http://toomeytales.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 9, 2014. Then you won't have to worry about that since you have a fussy baby who is teething anyway! Um Apparently being used to not sleeping is a preventative for PPD in her book! I couldn't contain my laughter, but I did point out that I wasn't laughing AT her, just laughing because I'd never thought of sleep deprivation as a prevention method for Depression before. She was proud. Hold (out in front of him, palms facing up, hands together) and ran toward Mike saying, "Da? Miss Mouse c...

Toomeytales: September 2014
http://toomeytales.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 26, 2014. The girls have been eagerly peering out their windows each morning, checking to see if there are enough leaves in the yard for a pile. Miss Mouse has said she plans to take Ken's "machine" (it's a push-raker on wheels with a bag attached) and gather "all the leaves in the neighborhood". Sunny asked me today on our way home from an errand if we could pick up some more milkweed. Understandable, because who could resist trying to recreate this, just one more time:. And that the u...

Toomeytales: December 2014
http://toomeytales.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Who We Are These Days. Fun times abound around here with a toddler just bursting with language development and a baby trying desperately to increase his mobility along with their two schoolgirl sisters. Mighty Mouse is speaking in short sentences and two word phrases these days. He says things like "garbage can", "Mommy bed", "Daddy bed", "Baby fweeping (sleeping)", "sooting, dead deer (shooting dead deer)",. And he answers with "Yellow! Then he goes to find either his giant gi...
