Love Grows Love

Wednesday, November 21, 2012. My time in Bundibugyo has come to a close. The last year holds many dear memories and precious freindships. It is a bittersweet end, but I am grateful for my life in Bundibugyo, and excited to begin my new job as a first grade teacher in Virginia Beach. Wesalo (goodbye) Uganda. Clover has a new home in the Stevens' yard and is so happy there :). We were so blessed to see the birth of the Johnson puppies before leaving Uganda! Goodbye to dear Kym and Lydia. I will miss you!

Love Grows Love: February 2012

http://lovegrowslove.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 18, 2012. For the last 2 weeks I've been in Kenya teaching Lilli and Patton (Travis and Amy have been attending a medical conference here). I have LOVED spending some time in Kenya where I lived for a summer as an intern 3 years ago. Teaching on the go has been a fun adventure. Here are a few photos from our school days in Kenya! The view on my daily morning walk to the tea farm where I taught Lilli and Patton. RMS- Rwenzori Moving School. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). FW: How did it go?

Saturday, October 13, 2012. Studying plants with Patton. Our new puppy, Sherlock! Moringa, the RMS goat eating up the school flower garden :(. This little cutie, Oliva, hangs out while her mom cleans RMS every Monday. She is just helping with the dishes here :). Lilli and Patton being hilarious during craft. Taking Vincent for a haircut so his teacher will let him stay in class. His grandma was away, so no one else was around to help him out. I buy fabric in the market from this little cuties' mama.

Rescued From Darkness to Light: January 2013

http://chrissychip.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Rescued From Darkness to Light. A Journey in Grace and Hope. Monday, January 28, 2013. Time in the Land of Plenty. Straddling two cultures, embracing a state of “homelessness”—after two and a half years, I may have thought it’d become “old hat”, nothing to ruffle the feathers. The general expectations of re-entry are slightly more predictable but they take a different form every time. How to balance sharing the joys and sufferings that come with this life? How to be real without scaring them off? For now...

Rescued From Darkness to Light: Counting the Cost

http://chrissychip.blogspot.com/2013/02/counting-cost.html

Rescued From Darkness to Light. A Journey in Grace and Hope. Thursday, February 7, 2013. In my last post, I mentioned that there is a cost to saying “yes” to the missionary lifestyle. There is a sacrifice in the going, the doing, the being. Some missionaries claim that they “never made a sacrifice”. And if that is truly how they saw it, bully for them. But me? I haven’t been sanctified enough yet to say that. Not sure I ever will. And that’s just what I am—a disaster! The surpassing worth of. Ugandan Bea...

Rescued From Darkness to Light: December 2012

http://chrissychip.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Rescued From Darkness to Light. A Journey in Grace and Hope. Monday, December 10, 2012. Thinking of Friday on a Monday. Friday, pictured below, passed away from Burkitt's lymphoma at Uganda's Cancer Institute in Kampala. You can read more about his story at this link. And an update here. I don't usually click on links to read articles but this one is pretty interesting. The photo at the top is taken in the room that Friday lived in for several months while receiving chemo treatments. Rescued From Darkness to Light: March 2013

http://chrissychip.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Rescued From Darkness to Light. A Journey in Grace and Hope. Friday, March 29, 2013. I’ve worshiped through a traditional Seder and age-old traditional liturgy. I’ve worshiped to the beat of African drums and enthusiastic dancing. I’ve filled up on kid therapy—swinging a jump rope, complimenting their coloring pages. I’ve groaned as the same kids knock on my door for a solid 45 minutes, as I try to accomplish something in the house. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. All who are thirsty.

Rescued From Darkness to Light: On Being a Honey Badger

http://chrissychip.blogspot.com/2013/04/on-being-honey-badger.html

Rescued From Darkness to Light. A Journey in Grace and Hope. Tuesday, April 23, 2013. On Being a Honey Badger. 8220;Honey badger don’t care. He just takes what he wants.” –crude (but hilarious) youtube video. I’ll admit that I’ve been called a honey badger by more than one person. It’s usually in reference to my direct, no holds barred speech. Or when they’re surprised by my feistiness—how could someone so small and cute also be so scrappy? As Alisha told me about the dilemma, honey badger kicked in....

http://chrissychip.blogspot.com/p/mailcare-packages.html

Rescued From Darkness to Light. A Journey in Grace and Hope. Getting mail here in Bundibugyo is an incredible encouragement! It reminds me that I am still connected to my friends and family at home and that I am not forgotten out here in the jungle :). You are welcome to send mail to me at the following address:. It costs about $1 to send a card and I love hearing from you! I also especially love photos of you and your family. Crystal light or powdered drink mix. Snickers, twix, dove dark chocolate.

Rescued From Darkness to Light. A Journey in Grace and Hope. Thursday, November 15, 2012. Blogging has sunk low on my list as life continues at breakneck speed here in Bundibugyo. But then again, I know my primary purpose here is not blogging and I’m thankful to be busy in ministry :). She had surgery at an orthopedic hospital, recovered, and is back in Bundibugyo with her mother as of yesterday. Able to Stand: Numero Uno

http://abletostand.blogspot.com/2009/05/numero-uno.html

Friday, May 8, 2009. I guess I will explain the title of my blog to start out with, that seems like the thing to do. It comes from a piece of Romans 14:4 where Paul is discussing the weak and the strong. To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.". Isn't it lovely that we do not have to worry about completely falling because the Lord is able to make us stand? I can not do it alone. I am able to stand because he is able to do it. February 22, 2015. I love Francesca Battistelli’s song, Time In Between. It speaks straight to my soul each and every time I listen to it. My favorite lines go like this:. It don’t take much for this crazy world to rob me of my peace. And the enemy of my soul says you’re holding out on me. So, I stand here lifting empty hands for you to fill me up again…. The enemy of my soul is an emptier. Have you ever emptied a glass ketchup bottle? He steals love, patience, and charity. February 18, 2015. Words are m...

Love Grows Our Family

Wednesday, September 2, 2009. It's Yeabsera's 1st Birthday! OK I know how pathetic it is that my last post was May 9th.the day we left for Ethiopia. And I have received some requests that I post something.anything about how we've been doing. But looking at my very last post (May 9th) I can say that one of the reasons that I haven't posted until now is that I HAVE been living in the moment! And I just don't sit at my computer anymore. (Isn't that a good thing? Our family could just not be doing better.
