Finding Joy in the Journey: 10 Days in Dominica: Day 2
http://durrantfam.blogspot.com/2011/10/10-days-in-dominica-day-2.html
10 Days in Dominica: Day 2. What has been better than expected? One of them being. Just look at this amazing market goodness! For both Broc and me, I think we could say food has definitely exceeded our expectations. Coming from Utah where it is just the opposite of tropical, we have loved the food here. The freshest fish you could imagine, the best grapefruit, and of course the tropical delights: mango, pineapple, guava and passion fruit! The passion fruit plant. My mom couldn't believe the fish here!

Finding Joy in the Journey: Sunday
http://durrantfam.blogspot.com/2011/04/sunday.html
Sundays are my favorite day of the week! Yes, the mornings are far from ideal (at least at our house). It usually consists of rushing around trying to get everyone ready, fed, gather lessons/ manuals, books, scriptures, a diaper bag filled with treasures to entertain, and out the door thinking you still have 5 minutes to spare only to realize you are late again with a 15 minute walk. Buckets of water from the ocean to meet their bathroom/ laundry/ dish washing needs. A people who rarely complain abou...

Finding Joy in the Journey: 10 Days in Dominica: Day 1
http://durrantfam.blogspot.com/2011/10/10-days-in-dominica-day-1.html
10 Days in Dominica: Day 1. Day 1: What do I miss the most about home? While I have expressed my feelings for some things that I miss, (found in this post. Depending on the day, this answer could vary from real milk to simply the convenience of life. Somedays it is almost amusing (and exhausting) to think about the way we live here. Not in a bad way at all, just in a different way than I am used to. But though there are many little things that I miss, I think the biggest thing is a. This story actually g...

Finding Joy in the Journey: Feeling a little anxious!
http://durrantfam.blogspot.com/2012/11/feeling-little-anxious.html
Feeling a little anxious! Well, I have done a horrible job at updating this thing since we have been back. There are a few reasons for that. The big question that everyone is asking since we have been back is, "What is next? Which is why he has locked himself in the office, and has studied his brains out for hours at a time only to take necessary bathroom and food breaks. This huge test only determines the rest of our lives! And to put this stressful test behind us! Oh he adores him! We don't know. W...

Finding Joy in the Journey: Goodbye Dominica...
http://durrantfam.blogspot.com/2012/10/goodbye-dominica.html
It all started out as a frustrating three years. When things just didn't seem to be working out. We had a hard time understanding the "whys" when we felt like it was something he should continue to pursue. We continued, and came upon this unique opportunity. Before our crazy move there. Wondering how I would survive without many things that made up my life before. We got there and those concerns turned into very real feelings. Yet, we were determined to find joy in this journey. And it wasn't hard. With ...

Finding Joy in the Journey: 10 Days in Dominica: Day 4
http://durrantfam.blogspot.com/2011/10/10-days-in-dominica-day-4.html
10 Days in Dominica: Day 4. What has been your favorite trip? There are so many amazing excursions to go on here! We live in a tropical rain forest, so you know there are going to be some great things to see. I have loved exploring this island and I have loved so many of the things we have done. But I would have to say, my favorite trip was Screw's Spa! The atmosphere, the water, it even lights up at night. I LOVED it! What an awesome place! And those signs are wonderful :). Finding Joy in the Journey: Blessings Come...
http://durrantfam.blogspot.com/2012/05/blessings-come.html
We initially came to Dominica for medical school. Yet during our 17 months here we have learned some of the greatest lessons in life. Broc has had a pretty demanding church calling during the last half of our time here. There have been many times Broc has put school second because of the importance he has placed in his calling. And it usually seems that something church related conveniently pops up right before an exam. Broc got his scores back today. and he PASSED! He actually did pretty well on it!

Finding Joy in the Journey: Lennox's Baptism
http://durrantfam.blogspot.com/2012/04/lennoxs-baptism.html
Lennox, one of the amazing people you see at church every Sunday,. Saying something that brightens your day and helps remind you to put a little more focus on the Lord. He was baptized on Saturday, April 7. We have been so blessed to be a part of so many baptisms during our time here in Dominica. And with each of them, I feel that my testimony is strengthened as. I see amazing people come into the church. Amazing. Lennox is blind, yet he is diligently at church every Sunday- on time- early actually,.

Finding Joy in the Journey: Scott's Head & Champagne Bay
http://durrantfam.blogspot.com/2011/11/scotts-head-champagne-bay.html
Scott's Head and Champagne Bay. We took a trip to Scott's Head and Champagne Bay on November 4. It worked out perfectly because Broc had his mini on Friday. We don't get many opportunities like this during the semester. We are trying to see as much of the island as possible before we leave (which I feel is coming way too fast! Our first stop was Scott's Head, which is about an hour and a half away from where we live. If you hike up "Scott's Head" you can see where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic!
