lunatic obscurity: April 2014
http://lunaticobscurity.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, 26 April 2014. Elevator Action Old and New (Game Boy Advance). So obviously, everyone knows of the Elevator Action series, probably through the amazing arcade game Elevator Action Returns, but I think this entry into the series has gone mostly unplayed, released as it was, only in Japan, and apparently not in great quantities. Brutally hard, fiddly to control and moves like it's set at the bottom of a treacle ocean. Labels: game boy advance. Monday, 21 April 2014. Aesthetically, the game is exc...

lunatic obscurity: Go! Go! Cosmo Cops! (DS)

Friday, 31 July 2015. Is a game built around a gimmick, and that gimmick is pretty similar to the PS2 game Chaindive: your characters have grappling hooks which can be attached to dots around the stages (though in this game, the dots look different to match the theme of each set of stages, which is nice). lunatic obscurity: September 2014
http://lunaticobscurity.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 September 2014. Fighting Masters (Mega Drive). For starters, there are only two buttons used, along with the d-pad: and attack button and a jump button. As well as the simple control scheme, there are also no combination attacks or special moves in the game: each character only has single strikes and throws, with throws doing massive damage and apparently being the cornerstone of the game. In summary, Fighting Masters is no rival for what we'd now consider a "proper" fighting game, but it is ...

Thursday, 27 August 2015. Though it does have some good points, and it is an admirable effort, I don't really recommend playin Thunder Hoop. Apparently it has two sequels that aren't yet emulated in MAME. I'd definitely be interested in playing them, as TH does show potential, and it'd be nice to see if it was ever realised. Links to this post. Saturday, 22 August 2015. Simple DS Series vol. 39: The Shouboutai (DS). I definitely recommend giving The Shouboutai a look, even though there are plenty of 3D s...

Saturday, 27 June 2015. Moto Roader II (PC Engine). Moto Roader II isn't a classic, and I'd go as far as to say that it's barely noteworthy at all. But It's a pretty fun game, like a nerdier version of the Micro Machines games. Though I've only been able to play it single player, it does support up to five human players, which I can only assume enhances the game massively. Links to this post. Monday, 22 June 2015. Thursday, 25 December 2014. Kotobuki Grand Prix (Playstation). Augh, this game is terrible. I'd seen it around before I'd actually played it, and wondered if it might be one of those budget-priced hidden gems, of which there are so many on the Playstation and PS2. Then one day, I needed to find an extra game to meet a shop's minimum purchase for paying by debit card, so I took the plunge and bought Kotobuki GP. Why is it so bad? Links to this post. Thursday, 18 December 2014. Hi no Tori Hououhen (MSX).

Wednesday, 30 July 2014. Spark Man is a Rolling Thunder-esque walking shooter from South Korea, with a few of its own eccentricities, both mechanically and aesthetically. Amazingly progressive for a game from 1989! For all it's faults, Spark Man isn't a terrible game, if you're curious, there's no reason not to check it out, but if you don't you're definately not missing out on a classic or anything. lunatic obscurity: Bullfight (Arcade)
http://lunaticobscurity.blogspot.com/2015/08/bullfight-arcade.html
Friday, 7 August 2015. The first thing I should mention here is that the title of this game isn't any kind of metaphor, it's literally about bulfighting, and it's pretty grisly, so if you that might upset you, you should probably skip this post. It's a top-down single screen game, it's pretty fun, atmospheric enough, but also quite flawed. 18 September 2015 at 15:49. 8 October 2015 at 21:31. So you can play any of these games? Saturday, 30 August 2014. Mamono Hunter Yohko: Dai-7 no Keishou (Mega Drive). You're probably already aware that this game is based on the anime known in english as Devi Hunter Yohko, but I can't say how faithful an adaptation it is, since I've never seen the show. Many years ago I had a poster of it that came with an issue of Animerica, though. Saturday, 23 August 2014. There's also another enemy, in the form of a large pink snake that only seems to appear on the last stage, and is bigger and faster tha...
