Stripes & Solids: May 2011
http://stripesandsolidssewing.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 27, 2011. I've returned from my vacation! I didn't sew for almost two whole weeks. I really missed it, but Disney was fantastic! I didn't bring my phone with me anywhere or check e-mail at all.it was so liberating. I do have two FOs to show you, but they're awaiting the perfect photo op. In the meantime, I have two blocks to show you. The first is my bee block for my wonderful friend Meaghan. She asked us to make a 12.5" block using a Ting Tong and Things. Saturday, May 7, 2011. Since I took ...

Stripes & Solids: February 2011
http://stripesandsolidssewing.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 23, 2011. When I came back from my trip. Have very strong personal aesthetics, and I didn't think I had that. Over the course of the year, I thought I had developed a style that I called "vintage modern," but that didn't really speak to me. This is not an attractive or eye-catching book (it was printed once in the eighties, and has long been OOP), but I had turned to it almost nightly. Then I went through my Flickr stream and made a mosaic of my favorites. What did I see? So I set a g...

Quilts…for the auction | Bella and Jake
https://bellaandjake.wordpress.com/2011/02/21/quilts-for-the-auction
Just another WordPress.com weblog. Quilts…for the auction. I have finished the front and back of the second grade quilt for the upcoming auction at school. Each block is 15″ finished, since I had some penguins in each landscape and portrait orientation I had to figure out integrate them together – not too hard but I am mathematically challenged so it took longer than it should. Penguins 45 x 60. A friend is quilting it for us on her mid-arm! How lucky are we? Two more to go…. Laquo; Windy….

I do actually finish projects. | made by monet

I do actually finish projects. August 26, 2010. In other news, I am going to share a doll quilt that I made for the NEMQG doll quilt swap recently. My doll quilt generated the least enthusiasm in the group (just being honest), but I am still happy with it:. I did one double wedding ring block. It took me an entire week. So, I won’t be making another one for a while. Here are some of the other doll quilts (see the full lineup here. Incidentally, also the name of her blog [and mine]). I think I love your a...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. 8230;made a pillow with an invisible zipper. Seriously, not just a zipper but one you can barely see. Wanna know what I did wrong? I sewed the zipper closed on my first try – smart, eh….but I figured it out pretty quick. I have several more to make…but now that I’ve cleared the first hurdle I’m on my way. YEAH! The details: A wonky star center, surrounded by a log cabin, the backed in a faux bois. A sunny day in Seattle. Laquo; : Happy Thanksgiving:.

How much is too much? | Ivy Arts

How much is too much? June 13, 2010 at 8:03 pm. Is it wrong to have so much fabric that you can, on any given Sunday, find a dozen coordinating fabrics, cut off a couple of strips of each, then cut and sew 54 blocks for a lap quilt? Is that too much fabric or just enough? Those of you who read this blog know that I’m not a fan of pastel baby quilts. Entry filed under: fabric. Tags: Amy Schimler fabric. https://getstitchy.wordpress.com/2010/11/26/crosstown-quilt-for-project-modern-inspiration-challenge
Get Stitchy With Sarah. Where seam rippers are our friends. Laquo; November Stitching. We went to Hawaii! Crosstown Quilt for Project Modern Inspiration Challenge. Is finished and the quilt-as-you-go method gets two thumbs up! The inspiration: a parking garage next to the historic Sears building in the Crosstown neighborhood of Memphis, TN. Measuring in at 54″ x 70″, this is the largest quilt I have ever made. The prints are all leftover fabric from a stack of thrifted clothes. I sent out for a block swap.

Stitched in Color: Stitch Your Life: Sewing Book Roundup
http://www.stitchedincolor.com/2010/08/stitch-your-life-sewing-book-roundup.html
MAKE handmade. do. Good. Saturday, August 14, 2010. Stitch Your Life: Sewing Book Roundup. I'm a book junkie. I've always loved reading and have a week spot for the smell of a brand new book. I'm inordinately proud of my bookshelves. Um, there's even a pile of sewing books I leave out for decoration. The thing is sewing books really are all that. The inspiration is endless. The directions are there. And, when you borrow them from the library, it's all free! The Modern Quilt Workshop. By Weeks Ringle and ...
