Mrs Hairston's FACS Class. Family and Consumer Sciences at Monticello High School. Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Okay – I can breathe a sigh of relief. I survived my first TAT visit! For you non-CTE people, let me explain. First, CTE stands for Career and Technical Education. Besides having all the rules and guidelines of the Education department, I’m under CTE. Every five years every program goes through a TAT visit or Tactical Assist Team visit. Today was the day! I was scared to death! Brian, Amber, Log...

Mrs. Chaney's Science Class: December 2010
http://chaneysscienceclass.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Mrs Chaney's Science Class. This is a snap shot into my life as a science teacher at Hazen High School. So my least favorite thing to do as a teacher is to make tests! I do not feel confident at all in making them. I'm never really sure if I'm testing what my students really know. I try to use this test generator that comes with the textbooks. They never have good questions because I use the textbook like a reference book. So, that means that I have to come up with my own questions. We are going to work ...

Mrs. Hairston's FACS Class: My Classroom
http://hairstonfacs.blogspot.com/2010/09/my-classroom.html
Mrs Hairston's FACS Class. Family and Consumer Sciences at Monticello High School. Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Just wanted to share a few pictures from my classroom. There is still some work to be done, but it's starting to come together. My student create my "Word Wall". They must write the word, copy the definition, reword the definition in their own words, and draw/find a picture to illustrate the vocab word. Mrs Hairston's FACS Class. Mrs. Hairston's FACS Class: Acorn People
http://hairstonfacs.blogspot.com/2010/11/acorn-people.html
Mrs Hairston's FACS Class. Family and Consumer Sciences at Monticello High School. Saturday, November 13, 2010. My Orientation to Teaching class has a unit on diversity. During that unit I read aloud to the class. I love the book Acorn People. By Ron Jones is a wonderful story about a boy that works at a summer camp. When he signed up to work at the camp, he envisioned hikes through the woods and lazy afternoon by the pool. Is a really good book. Mrs Hairston's FACS Class. Mrs Hairston's FACS Class.

Mrs. Hairston's FACS Class: September 2010
http://hairstonfacs.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Mrs Hairston's FACS Class. Family and Consumer Sciences at Monticello High School. Thursday, September 30, 2010. Oh my goodness what a day! I had two girls break out into a fight. It started with just words, and I thought that I had it under control. Was talking them out of my room to the office, but one of the girls knocked the other's bag to the floor. With that - the fight was on! Nothing happened - run over to buzz the office and get no reply! So I just run to the hall and YELL - I NEED HELP! I have ...
