It is, in fact, about as far from Russia as it’s possible to get because Lake Vostok is in Antarctica, in Russian territory there, and it’s under roughly two miles of ice. It’s not frozen. Fish, various crustaceans and frogs seem to be most common and these are usually put down to tornadoes/waterspouts lifting them from their habitats and dropping them somewhere else. Apples though, are an oddity. Especially in December, when they should all have been harvested in September and October.
