The Land of the Morning Calm

Thursday, September 22, 2011. Back into the Blogosphere. Did you miss me? Well, I'm jumping back into the blogosphere, but this time it will be less about me and more about children's clothing, starting a business, and just plain old much-needed inspiration. Follow our Dino Bebe journey here. Friday, August 19, 2011. We're back in the States bringing our Korea adventure to a final close. Of course we'll be back for visits, but unless life throws us a huge curveball, we don't plan to live there again.

The Land of the Morning Calm: February 2011

http://markim-kimark.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 25, 2011. Finally completed today (with lots and lots and lots of assistance from Dae-won. So, I went with Dae-won and another adoptee to the Seoul Refugee office (yeah, that's really what it's called) to submit all the paperwork. Went smoothly without a hitch. Actually, I kind of lucked out with my government official - she seemed like she wanted to get through the paperwork as quickly as possible and get back to her nap. Ha. Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Two weeks ago, Mark decided that ...

http://markim-kimark.blogspot.com/2011/08/seoul-subway.html

Monday, August 8, 2011. Yep, totally going to miss the crazy-efficient Seoul subway system. Labels: Seoul Subway Map. What a neat rap, Kim! I know you will miss the Seoul Subway and how efficient it is. That video brought back lots of memories of our visit with you in Oct. of 09. So glad your friend was able to help clarify some things with birth father and who would have guessed he could speak Japanese? Cant wait to see you two on the l7th. Were counting down the days! The Land of the Morning Calm: May 2011

http://markim-kimark.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 29, 2011. Birth Father came in town the other day and we were able to have some serious conversations with him. My reason for studying was to reach that level, so I feel like this year was well-spent. So here's the mandatory picture with my Level 4 class at graduation. Our speaking teacher is in the middle with the Japanese beer we gave her as a thank you present. We attended a going away party for one of Mark's friends from Turkey. Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Then, Mark organized a birthday par...

The Land of the Morning Calm: October 2010

http://markim-kimark.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 28, 2010. THAT'S a wedding gift! One of my favorite things about studying (besides learning another language and being able to talk to my birth family, yada yada yada) is the opportunity to learn first-hand about other cultures from my classmates. In Japan, money is also the most commonly given gift. But here's where it gets crazy. an acquaintance should get about $300. and a good friend? How about $1,000! Monday, October 25, 2010. Mark and I are actually investigating the possibility o...

Exploring Korea - One Step at a Time: South Korean cram schools

Exploring Korea - One Step at a Time. Small steps toward sending in my application - in search of my birth parents. The process and the Korean culture from my own perspective. South Korean cram schools. In the interest of my future profession as a teacher. I recently stumbled upon an article about the Korean "cram schools". What really caught my attention in this article is the fact that suicide is the second most common cause of death among young people. Traffic accident is the most common one.

The other was at the bowling alley and Dylan won against the 3 other kids playing on his lane. He even got a couple of spares. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Dylan won "gold" or "first place" in the school chess club tournament ladder. So proud. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. E" is for Exercise."F" is for Flowers. Just some snap shots. Welcome to Munchkinland: June 2015

http://www.welcometomunchkinland.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 29, 2015. On Father's day, the four of us headed to Eckert's to pick blackberries. This was Scott's first time picking these with us. And although the skies were a bit grey and the rain drizzling, we had a great time and picked a ton of huge, delicious blackberries. Scott returned late Saturday night from a few days in Athens, Georgia, the home of the Bulldogs. He brought all of us some souvenirs from his visit. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Monday, June 22, 2015. Exploring Korea - One Step at a Time. Small steps toward sending in my application - in search of my birth parents. The process and the Korean culture from my own perspective. In Seoul, the subway is the easiest and fastest way to get around. Reminds me of the London subway, however, if I'm able to remember the name of ONE station I'll be very proud of myself.
