Mark Michael Art: A Good Christian Boy
http://markmichaelart.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-good-christian-boy.html
Back to markmichaelart.com. Thursday, 14 May 2015. A Good Christian Boy. With this painting I wanted to examine posture and in turn portray how we often judge hastily on outward appearances. As with some of the other canvases within my new body of work, I am enjoying experimenting with ambiguity. This young man is dressed in the uniform of his time. Perhaps we are privy to a moment of penance, remorse, an act of self-preservation or is this an image of a person in mourning? I Wanna Be You.

With this painting, I wanted to explore using simple iconography how far the precarious nature of skill and focus can be pushed in the pursuit of accomplishment. Back to markmichaelart.com. Thursday, 14 May 2015. Ultimately in this painting I have used the piano as an example to indicate how people can use inanimate objects to often aspire towards grandiose ideals. The thread that runs through this painting is one of a knife-edge using the totems and text to establish the fact that this is quite possibly a mere strategy to win friends and influence people. Social Subterfuge Acrylic on Canvas 60cm x 80cm. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I Wanna Be You.

Back to markmichaelart.com. Monday, 10 June 2013. Can We Be Trusted With A Gift? What if a legend stepped from a myth, from folklore, proclaiming itself naively to our modern world? What if a fabled mythological creature crossed over into our everyday lives? What worth can be attached to its hide? How attractive would its head look mounted to a wall? Could its meat be tender enough to be seen as a gastronomical prize, if drizzled with enough truffle oil? A Goat In Myths Clothing.
