Salalah 2 | Martin Hesp journalist

https://martinhesp.wordpress.com/2014/10/05/salalah-2

Why I’ve decided to have a blog. Thoughts on journalism and other writing. A few more photos from my recent trip to Southern Oman. This is the Bronze Age hill fort at Khor Rauri east of Salalah. His is how you collect frankincense – merely make a cut on some ancient tree out in the desert and wait a couple of days. Strange but true – and amazing – is the fact that nine tenths of the world’s frankincense used to be brought through this ancient castle. October 5, 2014. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

St Kitts | Martin Hesp journalist

Why I’ve decided to have a blog. Thoughts on journalism and other writing. Was waiting for a train the other day. Took a while to circumnavigate St Kitts. And then it was three and a half hour around the island. And during that time a small quantity of rum was drunk. April 7, 2014. Thoughts on being a professional writer. One Comment to “St Kitts”. April 8, 2014 at 12:09 pm. A small quantity of rum? Thats not how I remember it! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Laquo; Previous Post.

Puglia | Martin Hesp journalist

https://martinhesp.wordpress.com/2015/06/14/puglia

Why I’ve decided to have a blog. Thoughts on journalism and other writing. Had the pleasure of visiting Puglia recently. Going to start travel blogging again – so here are a few Italian photos from my press trip… Will add links and more words very soon. Every one of these photos has a story to tell. Name of restaurant to be remembered. Pre dinner nibble Puglia-style. This really is the world’s oldest productive olive tree – and the farmer who owns it. Superhero watches over Apulian town. Isles of Scilly Walks festival inspires idea for new Cornish Snapper story | Martin Hesp journalist

Why I’ve decided to have a blog. Thoughts on journalism and other writing. Isles of Scilly Walks festival inspires idea for new Cornish Snapper story. It was an honour to be asked to lead the first hike in this year’s Walk Scilly festival last weekend. It is one of the most enjoyable walks festivals that is staged regularly in the UK in my opinion – but for much of the time my mind was on other things. April 20, 2014. The View from Pudding Island: September 2014

http://olivegroveview.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

The View from Pudding Island. Shakespeare called it "this scepter'd isle", I call it home - welcome to Britain. Saturday, 27 September 2014. It's been a quiet week. It hardly seems possible that it's only a week since I had to take the heartbreaking decision to let the vet end my dog's suffering. That's why it's been a quiet week - and obviously a sad week, too. Links to this post. Friday, 12 September 2014. The seven ages of holidaymakers. WE are getting near the end of the holiday season here on Skopel...

The View from Pudding Island: August 2015

http://olivegroveview.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

The View from Pudding Island. Shakespeare called it "this scepter'd isle", I call it home - welcome to Britain. Monday, 10 August 2015. The more things change, the more you go "Oh no, not this rubbish again". So, welcome to the first official posting in this blog's new guise as The View from Pudding Island and already with this post's title I realise I seem to have got off to a slightly grumpy start. Having shunned TV in Greece I have embraced it here in the UK. It's my new best friend, but like all ...

The View from Pudding Island. Shakespeare called it "this scepter'd isle", I call it home - welcome to Britain. Monday, 31 March 2014. It's as easy as ABC (isn't it? What have I gone and done now? I was looking around for ways of constructively filling my time and then before I knew it I'd signed up to the 2014 A to Z Challenge. This is what comes of being left to my own devices. Family and friends will know that my significant other, herself, she who MUST. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The View from Pudding Island: Thank goodness for those old guys

http://olivegroveview.blogspot.com/2015/05/thank-goodness-for-those-old-guys.html

The View from Pudding Island. Shakespeare called it "this scepter'd isle", I call it home - welcome to Britain. Monday, 18 May 2015. Thank goodness for those old guys. I've not been a very good blogger recently. It's a combination of a post A to Z Challenge slump and a certain amount of turmoil on the domestic front as we get ready to leave Greece to return to the UK. So what a relief it is to learn that such thoughts are nothing new. Romain brainbox Seneca the Younger, who lived from about 4BC to 65...

The View from Pudding Island. Shakespeare called it "this scepter'd isle", I call it home - welcome to Britain. Monday, 25 May 2015. A rumbling in the Garden of England. Having spent much time in Greece over the last three years I have grown used to the occasional earth tremor. Nothing too serious, but still surprisingly unsettling. I'm trying to blog when I can, but I shall be a bit peripatetic over the next few weeks so the service might be a little erratic. AND I've still got to sort out the name ...

http://olivegroveview.blogspot.com/2015/05/reflections-on-a-to-z-challenge.html

The View from Pudding Island. Shakespeare called it "this scepter'd isle", I call it home - welcome to Britain. Wednesday, 6 May 2015. Reflections on the A to Z Challenge. My second A to Z Challenge completed and a bit like getting home from a very frenetic party, everything seems very quiet now. I enjoyed it, made some blogging friends and was constantly surprised at the various ways people approach blogging and the A to Z Challenge. In no particular order, blogs I enjoyed included: Angels Bark. That's ...

http://olivegroveview.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

The View from Pudding Island. Shakespeare called it "this scepter'd isle", I call it home - welcome to Britain. Friday, 27 June 2014. Hold on a minute, I'll look it up. I have at least two Greek phrasebooks and somewhere around the house I think there is a third and possibly even a fourth. They are the sort of thing you accumulate over time and jolly useful they are, too. Well, at least in theory. But I still wouldn't be without my phrasebooks, if nothing else they provide plenty of entertainment as I tr...

The View from Pudding Island. Shakespeare called it "this scepter'd isle", I call it home - welcome to Britain. Friday, 7 August 2015. Only slightly more frequent than Halley's Comet. I know, I know, it's been a while since my last post. In fact, it's been more than two months. What can I say? It wasn't meant to be like this. Anyway, we now have the internet at home - hooray! And to distract me from my other distractions I feel I should get back in the blogging saddle, as it were. By The Beach Boys. ...

Welcome to my blog, hope you find it interesting. A professional photographer connects with the subject instantly. Moreover, the photographer’s persona and personality are also important and critical factors here. It is the combined impact of both, that can bring forth the emotions from the subject and that too in a very natural way. Choose carefully, after all, nothing lasts longer than your beautiful family photograph. This slideshow requires JavaScript. July 20, 2011 Categories: Photography. Using art...
