Archive for October, 2011. On October 9, 2011 1 Comment. Considering that it is Canadian Thanksgiving, I decided to blog about food! I won’t be enjoying a a turkey dinner this weekend; I even e-mailed the Canadian consulate this week to see if they were hosting anything for Canadians living here for the holiday. It turns out they aren’t, but they promised that they would be holding a celebration in early November and that I was welcome to attend! To top it all off, my friends brought Tiramisu for dessert!

Wednesday, 30 November 2011. Til I Am Myself Again. Well it’s been a crazy few weeks and I’m writing now that I feel I’ve finally got both feet back on the ground. First off, I was swept away to the vacation destination of Watamu, on the North Coast, by my fabulous cousin. I survived my first scuba diving experience, hiked in the last remaining coastal forest in Kenya, toured Swahili ruins, floated in the surreal underwater playground of Watamu National Marine Park, and ate glorious food. I was in heaven.

November 28, 2011 by dmartin. Horse Games at Kurmanjan Datka Festival. About a month ago I had the opportunity to attend the Kurmanjan Datka Festival in Southern Kyrgyzstan (Alai). Kurmanjan Datka. The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) also erected a hospitality yurt; Alai is one of the regions where AKF and MSDSP are most active. The local staff from MSDSP in Alai did a fantastic job of setting up the yurt and hosting the guests. We enjoyed bread, tea, fruit, salad, yoghurt, and lamb. Trying some local hats.
