Buxtehudes Daughter

Buxtehude's Daughter is a descriptive work that depicts the fascinating story that occured during the 17th century when organist of Lübeck Cathedral, Dieterich Buxtehude, decided to retire. At the time it was tradition for the successor of this highly prestigious appointment to marry the departing organist's daughter. However, as legend has it, Buxtehude's daughter was so unsightly no-one would take the job!

Commemorates the 2014 Australian Submarine Centenary, and is a unique achievement of Martyn's as he also had the privilege of composing the British Submarine Centenary march back in 2001, titled The Jolly Roger. In contrast to The Jolly Roger’s. Powerful themes evocative of the daring submarining feats of the Royal Navy, March of the Silent Service. As well as the Beatle’s song Yellow Submarine.
Scrap Iron Flotilla

The Scrap Iron Flotilla was composed in 2010 to pay tribute to the five Australian destroyers and their crews who served in the Mediterranean during World War II: HMAS Stuart. After the introduction, which was inspired by the TV theme Warship. A Scottish-feel is adopted depicting the ships being built on the Clyde. This is followed by a jovial section to represent the crew, and hints of the Sailors Hornpipe. And Any Old Iron.
