Why are we annoyed? 今天听了一个San Francisco State University Professor的talk，是关于他的一本新书"Why Can't We Be Good? 老头很和善，一头白发让人想起爱因斯坦。他出生于一个中产阶级犹太家庭，作为长子最自然的职业选择是当医生什么的。而他选择了哲学，于是他爸爸问他哲学家是干什么的，他说哲学可以回答我们为什么生活在这个世界里诸如此类的问题。他爸爸便说“你不能在思考这些问题的同时成为一个银行家吗？”. 书的开篇讲了这样一个小故事：有人来到Hillel the Elder的面前说“如果你能在我一条腿站立的时间内让我明白Torah的真谛，我愿立即归属犹太教。” Hillel说“What's hateful to you, do not do to you neighbor. 第一种是像我这样的，写personal blog，纯属个人爱好，写得也都是些生活琐事，流水帐，和亲人朋友们共享。 第二种也是personal blogger，但是专门针对某一个领域写东西，这种人的blog很容易吸引眼球，一般都会有一帮固定的读者（粉丝）。像 Got Ads. 就是这样。在online ads这个行业里做的人可以订阅这个blog，值得一读。我不知道写这个blog的人（或是人们）是不是就靠写这个吃饭。如果不是，此人太牛了。 第三种是corporate blogger。在IT，尤其是internet这一块，稍微有点规模的公司都会充分利用blog这个新的渠道来发布消息，要不是给新feature做广告，要不是promote corporate PR。所以这些公司会有专门的人来写blog，有事说事，没事就贴些充满人情味的公司趣事，网上这么多人闲逛总会看到，真是一举多得的广告。 说是offsite，其实就是找个conference room，一堆人关在里面成天开会。好在下午有个laser tag game，一天总算有个盼头。 大狗连摇狗头:"难登大雅之堂, 不可, 决计不可! 话音一落就是今年初了&#...

今天在家工作（Work From Home），效率非常高：. 学了一些家里空调管道的知识（今天有人过来维修家中的空调管道）；. 还了digital cable box，从此家里没有了电视信号（comcast欺人太甚，一个月光电视信号就要价100）；. 读了一堆搞笑网站，认真研究了一下TV series "24"，因为看到了这个 Top 100 Facts About 24. 这是我在大学低年级的时候英文课本上看到的一个故事。说的是作者一个人开车环游美国，经过中西部的一个小镇时汽车的水箱漏了。小镇上的村民很热情地告诉他用一个青香蕉就可以堵住漏水的地方，然后由指着旁边一座山头说你知不知道那是世界的中心。作者笑了笑没作声，半信半疑用青香蕉堵住漏水的地方居然发现能一直挺到好几十迈外的修车铺。 65307;嗯，还不如我的故事讲得好。 上周六外出练习人物摄影，今天大狗终于把照片处理完成（调曲线，白平衡，由raw转成jpg格式）。浏览一遍照片，有这样一些心得：. 曝光要尽可能准确。宁可欠曝不可过曝，因为过曝会失去所有细节，而稍微欠曝可以在后处理中调节。 因为这事儿是我来负责的所以大狗两眼一闭跟着我走就行了Ӎ...

两三年前跟Dian学的做辣椒萝卜。买来白萝卜，切好，用绳子穿起来挂在阳台上。那时候住在Redwood Shores，虽然是夏天，阳光不是很好，总晒不干。后来等不及了，拌上辣椒酱就用瓶子封装起来。过了一个星期打开吃，酸酸的 :-(。后来Dian来我这儿玩，给我带了一瓶她做的辣椒萝卜，哇塞，完全专业水准，真是让我三月不知肉味。 不知为什么这两天想吃辣椒萝卜了。想想现在住在南湾了，阳光强了些，应该可以晒干了。于是又如法炮制一番，周六中午切好拿出去晒。因为我们家旁边在施工，怕落太多灰，就用有网眼的盆子盖住，结果没怎么干。周日工地停工，我们就直接把萝卜放在太阳下晒，一天下来还是不够。周一把它放在室内窗户前，下班回来一看都长霉了！ Http:/ mitbbs.com/article1/PhotoGear/22339876 0 1.html. 大狗今天要去Stanford医院，是早上8点钟的appointment。他说你就不用去了。我知道我不去也没什么，但我陪他去他会高兴一些，何况我自己在家也没什么好做的。 知道shopping mall热闹之前的样子吗？今天我是见到了。 我的四周开始陆陆续续有人走动了，...
