BellisinKiev: May 2015
http://bellisinkiev.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 29, 2015. So the big news, if you missed it, is that our next home with be Pretoria, South Africa! We are very excited about it and will move sometime in September. While I have an enormous amount to figure out (like how to get a giant dog there), right now we are just having fun imagining the fun parts- ideal climate, safaris, the chance to finally live in a house with a garden! Much more later, but for now back to our lives here in Kyiv. First, a video of my bubble blowing kiddos. This bein...

BellisinKiev: January 2015
http://bellisinkiev.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 9, 2015. Maria and I just returned to Kyiv after a wonderful 3 weeks at our home in Italy. Paolo, Gio, Enzo and Pepperoni will begin driving tomorrow. I am just now sitting down to look through our photographs. My eyes are drooping after a 3AM wakeup today to catch our plane, so excuse the short intro. Here are some glimpses of our holiday. Maria continues her love of foraging in the fridge. I quickly learned to move all eggs and wine bottles up to the top shelves. It was a high number.

BellisinKiev: January 2014
http://bellisinkiev.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 27, 2014. Yes, Ukraine is descending into chaos right now. There is fighting in the streets, Molotov cocktails being hurled at police, protestors by the 1000s camping out in Independence Square, firebombs exploding throughout the night. But this post is not about the war raging around us. Instead, I am just posting some fun photos of our "little" Maria. She is about to turn 6 months old. Hard to believe! In the seat of neglect (Exersaucer). Paolo is quite convinced she is left-handed.

BellisinKiev: December 2014
http://bellisinkiev.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 9, 2014. We spent last weekend in Paris to celebrate my birthday (Dec 4) and Gio's (dec 6). We rented a fantastic apartment looking over St Sulpice. It was the perfect place for us. Each child had a bedroom filled with toys just for their age so each spent hours happily occupied. The location was perfect for us- a 10 minute walk from Luxembourg Gardens where Gio spent every afternoon while Maria napped. St Sulpice and a fantastic fountain just outside our apartment door. The trip home w...

BellisinKiev: April 2014
http://bellisinkiev.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 23, 2014. A Rough Start to April. April began rather badly for us. Maria ended up in the hospital with another UTI, Gio and Enzo had surgery and then the stomach flu hit. Luckily we had an April 19th trip to Italy planned so the end of the month is going much better than the beginning did! We are here in Italy until May 3rd and enjoying every minute! Here are some photos from the last month. Once in a great while I attempt to tame Maria's hair. She does not object. The very next day we r...

BellisinKiev: February 2014
http://bellisinkiev.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 27, 2014. When Yanukovych fled Ukraine on Friday he left behind his palatial estate. Quickly the protestors took possession and opened it to the public to show "what corruption built." After seeing media coverage of the house and grounds Paolo and I could not resist any longer and drove out to see it for ourselves. The compound is about 15 km outside of Kyiv at the end of a road filled with American-style suburban houses. And at least 20 coffee trucks. Right next to the house is this d...

BellisinKiev: March 2015
http://bellisinkiev.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 22, 2015. For those of you curious about where the Bellis will land next, I promise to fill you in as soon as we know. We should be certain of our plans by the end of April. So meanwhile, some scenes from the last month (or so). Sledding in Shevchenko Park. Enzo was in heaven. Maria was also quite pleased with it all. A new indoor play area opened at Gulliver Center. This became a popular early evening outing for us. After a nasty flu hit our family Maria's appetite finally returned. The li...

BellisinKiev: May 2014
http://bellisinkiev.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 20, 2014. The list is so varied: Saudi Arabia, Korea, Dominican Republic, Belgium, Zambia, Rome, China, San Francisco, India. I am sorry about the whining and also to the many dear friends who are staying here along with us. I am not forgetting you- just goodbyes are hard for me and with so many this year my head is spinning. And, so, as always, some glimpses of our lives over the last few weeks. Here is a video of Maria "mastering" cup drinking. How to make Maria laugh hysterically? 20 minu...

BellisinKiev: June 2014
http://bellisinkiev.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 28, 2014. Off to Italy for the Summer! The end of the school year is always crazy here but this June has been particularly busy with far too many good-byes as an unusual number of families are moving away from Ukraine this summer. Poor Gio has lost every one of his 5 best friends. Definitely a downside of the ex-pat life. I am fitting in one more Kyiv-based blog entry before we relocate to Italy for the next two months. My super boy on his way to school. And red velvet cake! Every morning ...
