Asian Adventure

Thursday, January 1, 2009. This may be the last of the blogs that I write and yes I know I haven't finished Japan and South Korea yet but.time flies. I've added a few for December. The dates were all mixed up so hopefully I've now got December straight. We may be a little delayed in our departure as Mick has to renew his passport and we are in holiday season here so something will have to be cut from our itinerary but hopefully not too much. Thank you for all your letters and good wishes. And here is Mum...

Asian Adventure: August 2008

http://www.mcgarrysinasia.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 30, 2008. Safely back in Hangzhou. Just to let you all know that we are safely back in China and have had an exhausting but most enjoyable two months getting to see the similarities and difference between three Asian cultures - China, Japan and South Korea. Hope you all saw more of the Olympics than we did but we understand China did well, as did Canada, though we saw nothing of Canada's efforts while traveling. Posted by Jacky and Mick. Sunday, August 17, 2008. The day before we were th...

Wednesday, December 31, 2008. I hurried home in the biting wind and rushed back with my camera. He was just closing up shop but here he is. It is hard for me to pass by these skilled craftsmen with their old fashioned but perfectly serviceable machines I so love watching them. Posted by Jacky and Mick. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thursday - not so good.

Asian Adventure: Faces

http://www.mcgarrysinasia.blogspot.com/2008/12/faces.html

Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Here are a lovely couple who smiled and waved at me as I passed them in town. They seemed to have been sitting outside the shop on the stoop for hours - and it was not warm. I took their photo and showed them and they shook hands and laughed. They looked so cold that I offered the old lady my mitts and put them in her lap and indicated that she could have them.but she would not take them. Note the man is wearing his pyjama type puffy. What lovely faces! Thursday - not so good.

Asian Adventure: April 2008

http://www.mcgarrysinasia.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 25, 2008. Yu Ling invited us to her apartment for a lovely luncheon and to see how to prepare Chinese fare. Her apt is larger than we could get in Vancouver for $400,000.00, and much as we would expect in any Western apt. She has wood floors throughout. Posted by Jacky and Mick. Isn't this a great little sign? It is everywhere and it means you can go ahead or do a Uey which the drivers do - often. Posted by Jacky and Mick. Thursday, April 24, 2008. Posted by Jacky and Mick. Asian Adventure: November 2008

http://www.mcgarrysinasia.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 20, 2008. Nartjies and other things. It's nartjie (tangerine) season and they are sold by the truckload all over town. They are very cheap and so far they have been sweet and refreshing. This picture was taken under a bridge where pedestrians and cyclists were permitted but not cars thank goodness. Don't you just love this vendor cycling along with all his ribbons and bows and laces and hair slides etc etc? Earlier Nicky took a photo of a little one in a basket hanging on the side like...

Jessa and Blake's Blog. Guyana Ministry of Education Website. Tuesday, 10 February 2009. The Definitive Pine Tart. It's appropriate that this is the last post in Guyana for Stephen and Mary @ Guyana because those who know me know that I have sweet tooth and it will probably be my downfall but "what the heck! We enjoy a drink in the Paris Hotel. Ary couldn't resist taking a picture of the loos in the Paris. Jessa and Blake's Blog. Guyana Ministry of Education Website. Tuesday, 10 February 2009. VIP Trip to the Mazaruni. At relatively short notice, Mary, Meg and I were given a VIP trip along the Mazaruni. River last Saturday. In fact we had no idea what to expect other than our line manager at NCERD. Miss Ali had offered the trip to us. So at 7-15am we set off to her house at Leonora Region 3 and little did we expect what we got. Private island to the Mazaruni. Style with three different types of salt fish.

Jessa and Blake's Blog. Guyana Ministry of Education Website. Saturday, 6 June 2009. Catching up with new friends. Meeting Ann again in Ellesmere Port. Mcgarrys Level 3 BTEC Blog. Monday, 21 November 2016. There was a lot dialogue and no soundtrack. The only music we heard was from her and her friends singing. There was a lot of background sound from the camera. This makes the audience believe that the film is being recorded on a phone. There are multiple sound breaks throughout the scene where the camera cuts to another scene such as the scene with the scratch card.
