A New Review of 2006’s “The Observer” |
https://meccanormalblog.wordpress.com/2015/04/22/the-observer-review
A New Review of 2006’s “The Observer”. Nearly 10 years after its release, the Chesapeake Public Library in Virginia. Has reviewed Mecca Normal’s album “The Observer” in great depth. Excerpt from David Lester’s collection of tour diary notes, reviews and comments. She was and still is a really political person, a political being who really walks the talk. And the effect of her views on me in turn affected the band. We started looking at the world differently and certainly from more of a left-of-centre viewpoint. – John Mann of the band Spirit of the West on Jean Smith, 2008. Next post →. Opening for The Julie Ruin. A Condensed History of Mecca Normal. David Lester Graphic Novels.

Mecca Normal Lyrics | March 2009
K Records 7″ IPU 132 — fall 2010. November 11, 2010. And camera goes click. And you press record. And you hand the document. To the jazz musician. And you talk and you listen. And you protest this war. And there is pain. And it instigates change. And there is frustration. That your voice is not heard. When you protest the war. With a sign above your head. And your camera goes click. As you press record. And the can of gasoline is there. For this final document. Your protest against the war. How I see you.

Mecca Normal Reviews and Articles
Mecca Normal Reviews and Articles. Friday, September 17, 2010. Lecture Reviews and Articles. MECCA NORMAL reviews ONLINE:. Mecca Normal's "The Observer" (Kill Rock Stars; 2006). A concept album about online dating written by a feminist experimental semi-riot-grrl art-rock band with no drummer, this might sound a really bad idea or a really good one. Your judgment may be influenced by whether you're a deadbeat man or a cynical and single woman. He asks me about this music of mine, is it ever all-out punk?
Mecca Normal LYRICS
Mecca Normal LYRICS by Jean Smith. December 3, 2008. I was late getting to the restaurant. You were there with your colleagues discussing life after death. I sat down next to you and you introduced me. One by one they met my eyes and then ignored me. I motioned for you to pass me the menu. And started reading short poems about the food. The others, they'd already ordered. I picked the mussels in rose sauce. Not knowing if rose was a colour or a flower. I sat there and said nothing. Women don't have souls.
