When one starts, the other stops. And the pattern. Just like Christ – life, death, resurrection, the end. The life/death continuum is linear and has a beginning and end, right? The seed has to die before the new plant can sprout. But what about seasons? And the phases of the moon? But they’re still different.

The thing was this: when we met with our midwives at Midwife Seattle, they made it clear that by committing to birth with them, I would be committing to birth without any form of pain medication.
