Melanie's Food Blog

What is Melanie cooking today? Monday, October 24, 2011. Homemade Butterfingers. THREE ingredients! I haven't posted on this site in almost two years. Since I've had two children, I really really suck at blogging. I don't even update my personal one anymore and I'm ashamed. But, be sad no more! I come bearing a gift! A ridiculously simple, unbelievably delicious recipe for Butterfingers using only THREE INGREDIENTS and a microwave! I know, I know. But I swear! Tuesday, February 9, 2010. I would be tellin...

Melanie's Food Blog: Green Chile Chicken Soup

http://www.melaniesfoodblog.blogspot.com/2009/12/crock-pot-green-chile-chicken-soup.html

What is Melanie cooking today? Monday, December 28, 2009. Green Chile Chicken Soup. I invented this today. It's fast. It's easy. It was made up of things I had in my home at the time. It received accolades from my husband, 5-yr-old son, and 17-month-old daughter. I'd say it's a pretty great soup. Actually, this was supposed to be a stew. I suppose you could still call it a stew, but I felt as though the broth was simply too thin and therefore it became a soup. Make this soup soon. You'll like it! Easy di...

What is Melanie cooking today? Tuesday, February 9, 2010. I found my favorite Chili recipe EVER. Chili is defined as. A thick, stewlike concoction of beef or other meat in a tomato base with chili powder and typically onions, peppers, and legumes such as kidney or pinto beans. You may be asking yourself, "Where did she find such a magnificent chili recipe? Then I would go ahead and give you the recipe, because I know you will want to kiss me because of it. Here we go:. 2 garlic cloves, minced. Reduce hea...

Melanie's Food Blog: August 2009

http://www.melaniesfoodblog.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

What is Melanie cooking today? Wednesday, August 19, 2009. I have two kids, ages 1 and 5. they are both really picky eaters (aren't most kids, though? Today, i whipped up a super easy (so easy i can't believe i'm even posting it on here) lunch for them. 8 frozen chicken tenders. 1 packet dry ranch dressing mix. 3 slices of toast, made into crumbs in food processor (i've also used multi-grain club crackers when i was out of bread- i like it with the crackers even better, i think.). The many adventures of my children (and me too!): October, Part 2 (FINALLY!)

http://lincolnandlexi.blogspot.com/2011/01/october-part-2-finally.html

Wednesday, January 19, 2011. October, Part 2 (FINALLY! October seems like a long time ago, but I'll do my best to recap the second half of the month. We went to my cousin Anna's wedding in Oklahoma City. I made all the food for her bridal breakfast and, if I do say so myself, it was pretty dang. I didn't actually get to eat much of it, but I assume that's a good thing, since it means that apparently everyone liked my stuff. I made The Pioneer Woman's. And they were a-maz-ing! Lincoln was a super awesome ...

The many adventures of my children (and me too!): January 2010

http://lincolnandlexi.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 10, 2010. Our Christmas in Pictures. We had a busy Christmas! It was very fun, full of blessings, and covered with SNOW! Yes, we got about 5 inches of snow (thanks to an all-out BLIZZARD) on Christmas Eve and there was still plenty of it left for me to see my first white Christmas EVER! I hope this year is one that Lincoln will remember forever, because there's no telling if he will ever get to see another white Christmas. Here are Lincoln and Hannah playing in the snow on Christmas Eve.

The many adventures of my children (and me too!): November 2010

http://lincolnandlexi.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 10, 2010. After having the same pictures of my kids (and our whole family) on my header for MORE THAN A YEAR, I've finally updated it! Slowly but surely, this blog is getting a bit more TLC. I think my kids have changed just a tiny bit since the pics in the old header. The pic of Lincoln was 20 months old, the pic of Lexi was about 14 months old, and the pic of our family was 2 years old! Now they're all new :). Have a great Wednesday! Wednesday, November 3, 2010. October, part 1.

The many adventures of my children (and me too!): Happy Birthday, Lexi!

http://lincolnandlexi.blogspot.com/2011/07/happy-birthday-lexi.html

Saturday, July 16, 2011. Happy Birthday, Lexi! I am so ashamed! Has it really been FIVE months since I have updated this thing? I have totally become one of those people. I won't promise I'll be better, because we all know I probably won't! Happy THIRD birthday, Lexi Suzanne. I just can't get enough of your fun little personality! Just an hour or two old. Our first photo as a family of four. Our girl was so tiny. 6 lbs 6 1/2 oz of perfection. July 16, 2011. She sure was proud to have a birthday! View my ...

http://lincolnandlexi.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 1, 2011. My cousin Holli took our family pictures this year. They turned out so great! She did such a great job of capturing our personalities! I can't believe how big our kids are. Scott and I are so blessed with amazing children. I know everyone says that about their kids, but ours are truly some of the best. Lincoln will be 7 later this month. It is so hard for me to wrap my head around that! Both of my boys look so happy, closed-mouth grins and all :). This girl simply adores her Daddy.

http://lincolnandlexi.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 7, 2010. Here is some of our May in pictures. Lincoln's sweet teacher helped the kids throw a Mother's Day party. We ate goodies and played a game. It was lots of fun! We went to a Backyardigans-themed birthday party for Zack Waggoner. Here I am with. Lexi had Daddy throw her into the foam pit over and over and over. We've enjoyed some time at the zoo. Here, the kids took a break from looking at the animals to love on each other. Friday, June 4, 2010. Our day of fun. We spent a lot of time i...

http://lincolnandlexi.blogspot.com/2010/11/october-part-1.html

Wednesday, November 3, 2010. October, part 1. To make up for the fact that I hardly took any pictures in September, here is a month that is going to have to be broken down into 2 or 3 blogs! LOTS of photos of October. Let's get started. We made a visit to the local pumpkin patch. We spent way too much money on gourds, but also had a fun time before we headed home. We caught the hayride and I got some pretty cute pics. This girl ADORES her Daddy! And what an amazing Daddy he is! He is a TOOT! Without my G...

Melanie's Recipes

Sunday, April 15, 2012. Yesterday I was so very tempted to order Indian food. I didn't feel like cooking, I did have some chicken thighs to work with, and veggies, but I just didn't feel it. Then I thought, I'll just sauteed everything in a pan, throw in a jar of salsa, and forget about it! No Salsa. *sigh*. I started digging in my pantry, and discovered a jar of Tikka Masala sauce. Hum, that could be nice! 4 servings, 4 P /Serving (5 if you count the kale, I don't). 1 red onion, quartered, sliced. Sprin...
