Grannyspot: Some Local Flavor
http://grannyspot.blogspot.com/2013/08/some-local-flavor.html
Saturday, August 17, 2013. We began our day with a visit to a typical Saturday marketplace, where there are stalls for every need - radio repair and haircuts as well as meats and produce. Jack was fascinated by the open stalls where they were but hearing and selling meat of all kinds! The vegetables had less appeal! I loved this (very polite but clear! Warning to thieves we saw posted in the market:. Jack took off running, remembering where he had seen the black corn! It's been a good trip! Http:/ laurel...

Grannyspot: March 2011
http://grannyspot.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 18, 2011. It was a perfect afternoon for a Lemonade Stand, so Jack and Alex made lemonade (five cents) - and decided that for an extra penny you could have food coloring added to make your drink extra special! Jack was a bit shy with the customers, but Alex was quite the entrepreneur - and they both loved ladeling the drink into cups and then mixing in the food coloring when requested! Tuesday, March 15, 2011. The Laffitte family is in Nashville, and Jack decided (? Friday, March 11, 2011.

Grannyspot: July 2013
http://grannyspot.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 6, 2013. Coda: our last piece on this blog, our last day on the island. It began as a mournful coda as we heard winds moan as they coursed over the North sea. Sometimes they sounded like wolves howling in the distance, or women as they came to gather their dead and dying, maybe even of God calling. Calling again to witness the centuries of people struggling yesterday, today, and tomorrow. This does feel like Holy Ground, the ruins, the priory, the felt sense of time giving and taking away.

Grannyspot: April 2013
http://grannyspot.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 4, 2013. Ruminations on Taxis and other New York experiences. We began the morning exploring our little corner of NY - wandering through the streets to find a coffee shop and observing the local flora and fauna, which included such things as drivers in long lines of traffic reading the morning paper, and, in our little coffee shop, an intriguing stairway that went -well, nowhere! Then off to Central Park! Charles used the opportunity for a snooze! From a four-year-old and a six-year-old?

Grannyspot: June 2011
http://grannyspot.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 30, 2011. What a beautiful city is Prague! We left Passau and drove by bus through the deep Bavarian (German) anbd Bohemian (Czech) forests for about 2 1/2 hours, and into the city. Our hotel was right off the Old Town Square, which provided wonderful opportunities for "hanging out" and people-watching: the square is surrounded by outdoor cafes where you can have a beer (cheaper than water! And now, it's time to say good-bye! It's been a great trip! Sunday, June 26, 2011. I took a picture ...

Grannyspot: Ollyantaytambo and Machu Picchu
http://grannyspot.blogspot.com/2013/08/ollyantaytambo-and-machu-picchu.html
Friday, August 16, 2013. Ollyantaytambo and Machu Picchu. Our first stop on our way to Machu Picchu was at Ollyantaytambo, famous as the only place ever to have successfully resisted attacks from the Spanish. As we pulled in to the parking lot, our guide pointed out an original Inca street still in use today:. It's an impressive sight, and Jack scrambled up and down, over and around the stone terraces and walls. He was heady with excitement! He returned to the hotel so happy! Links in my Life. Grannyspot: No breathing room!
http://grannyspot.blogspot.com/2013/08/no-breathing-room.html
Thursday, August 15, 2013. We went from one activity to the next - all good, but soooo many! And yet, when we came home from one, Jack was chomping at the bit to go on to the next! We'd have a rest-and-regrouping time (often scarcely an hour) and in 5 minutes he was ready to head out the door again! We began the day with a rafting trip. Beginning with "class one" and ending with "class three." We were grouped four or five to a raft, and Jack was quite clear that he was NOT going with me! And on to a pott...

Grannyspot: Nature Walk
http://grannyspot.blogspot.com/2013/08/nature-walk.html
Friday, August 16, 2013. We began our day with a nature walk through the rain forest, and ended with a visit to the Spectacle Bears. Quite fun and interesting! Then the long trek back to Cusco (train, followed by a large bus, and then a smaller one to fit in the very narrow streets of downtown Cusco! Route we saw more Inca ruins and some spectacular scenery! The river (and yes, it is the same river on which we went rafting! And, of course, the valley, and the glorious mountains and glaciers!

Grannyspot: Re-Group and Get Acclimated
http://grannyspot.blogspot.com/2013/08/re-group-and-get-acclimated.html
Sunday, August 11, 2013. Re-Group and Get Acclimated. Our plane landed to the sound of church bells - a joyous thanksgiving for having (finally! Having been successfully picked up and deposited at our hotel in the early morning hours (think, 4:30am! I pulled the black-out curtains, and we went to bed, with the thought that today would have no agenda other than to re-group and get acclimated. And so it has been. Here are views from our hotel:. Jack has identified his four favorite things of today:. Posted...

Grannyspot: August 2011
http://grannyspot.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 22, 2011. Charlie came home from the hospital this afternoon, to the great excitement of his brother and sister (both of whom are busily trying to "protect" him from the ministrations of the other sibling! Saturday, August 20, 2011. FINALLY today Charlie decides he wants to meet us! We were all surprised at how chubby he is for a newborn! When I stopped by to see the kids Alex told me, "Mommy has gone to get Charlie, and she's never coming back here again! Monday, August 15, 2011. As well ...
