I think we have six of these, all on Saturdays. Our first one was yesterday. After that we went to the museum off Jardin la Libertad, and saw exhibits on the history of Colima. Last Friday instead of having Cultural Mexicana class at school, we drove to an area of town where there is an archaeological site. There are a bunch of ancient pyramids there. Apparently a mall was going to be built on the site, and then the pyramids were discovered so it was made into a protected area. Three months in Mexico. La Cabalgata y La Playa February 13, 2011. 8212; mexicandiet @ 11:56 pm. I had another eventful weekend. Friday night was opening night for the festival in Villa de Alvarez. There is a huge parade, called a cabalgata, which starts at the Jardin la Libertad in Colima Centro and goes to Villa de Alvarez. Three months in Mexico. La Feria en Villa de Alvarez y Más Playas. February 20, 2011. 8212; mexicandiet @ 1:01 pm. On Wednesday, there was another cabalgata (parade) for the festival going on in Villa de Alvarez. We went to the main street here in Colima Centro to try and watch it but missed it. We headed back home and went with our roommates and friends to a restaurant, then to Villa de Alvarez. There were many people, but as we went to the large main tent, we quickly ran into our friends from VIU.
