The Heidelberger Papers: Transportation Sandwich

http://mheidelberger.blogspot.com/2012/08/transportation-sandwich.html

Wednesday, August 22, 2012. The foot of the Hellgate bridge and the Astoria-Ditmars Blvd Subway Station in Queens). A nice tasty transportation sandwich in on the menu here in Astoria. Fixings include 31st Street on the bottom, N and Q Trains in the middle, and topped with Amtrak. New York and many other cities along the Eastern Corridor frequently enjoy similar sandwiches, if only the entire country would develop a taste for them. Posted by Matt Heidelberger. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. My apologies for how quiet it has gotten around here. Truth be told, I've been very busy writing.as well as transferring American Dirt to a new domain. American Dirt: Aging at home: does it have to be an uphill climb?

http://dirtamericana.blogspot.com/2014/06/aging-at-home-does-it-have-to-be-uphill.html

Saturday, June 7, 2014. Aging at home: does it have to be an uphill climb? Grim as it may be to talk about death, the first baby boomer became eligible for social security on October 15, 2007. But how do we respond to those who have no desire to leave the places they have called home for most of their adult lives? The contraption leading to the front door should make it clear what I’m suggesting: it’s a wheelchair ramp. And it’s an elaborate one. Will the younger, less populous, able-bodied generation se...

No, these signs are everywhere. Here’s another intersection a half mile down the road. The lighter sky helps clarify, while the ...

As I prepare for some upcoming significant changes to my blog, I provide a sort of “placeholder” article as make the final modifications, which I will soon publicize. The placeholder motif extends to the content of this blog entry, where a window sign serves much the same purpose within its respective storefront. It’s simply announcing a lunch special. American Dirt: June 2014

http://dirtamericana.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 30, 2014. When a street is not a road. My year and a half in Afghanistan working under the US Air Force confronted me with a new acronym almost every day. One of the bases for which I wrote a comprehensive plan required a “Glossary of Acronyms” in order to sort them all out, ballooning to several pages in length. It was exhausting. And then there are the words made up on the spot. Which brings us to the stroad. That I have referenced a few times in the past. According to a recent City Lab.
