Michael's Model Railways: April 2015

http://michaelsrailways.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Michael Campbell's blog about his model railways. Building model railway layouts in 009 (OO9) scale. Landswood Park (014 Boxfile). Southon Yard (009 Shoebox). Pen-Y-Bryn Quarry (009 "cube"). Thursday, 30 April 2015. For many reasons I've made little or no progress over the last few weeks (including various family events and having to re-install windows on our computer). One distraction was my daughter's birthday, which did necessitate a couple of "modelling" projects with my wife:. Just a reminder of the...

Wednesday, 26 August 2015. Inspiration: A Small Watermill. Last weekend we visited Batemans - which was the home of Rudyard Kipling, and is now a National Trust property. In the grounds was a small watermill, which struck me as being an ideal prototype for a model. Saturday, 22 August 2015. A Start on the Fiddle Yard.

Michael's Model Railways: Twist and Slide

Michael Campbell's blog about his model railways. Building model railway layouts in 009 (OO9) scale. Landswood Park (014 Boxfile). Southon Yard (009 Shoebox). Pen-Y-Bryn Quarry (009 "cube"). Saturday, 8 August 2015. I've been thinking about a new fiddle yard for Awngate - and for possible use on future layouts too. There's nothing really wrong with the current cassette system. Train, but who really cares! So after much thought and some ideas posted on the NGRM forum. 9 August 2015 at 10:13. It wouldnt be...

Michael Campbell's blog about his model railways. Building model railway layouts in 009 (OO9) scale. Landswood Park (014 Boxfile). Southon Yard (009 Shoebox). Pen-Y-Bryn Quarry (009 "cube"). Saturday, 1 August 2015. Both buildings have now been positioned on his train set, next we'll have to have a go at making brick retaining walls and tunnels I think. Brilliant. People always say that kids arent interested but if you get them making something, its amazing how many are thrilled by it. Welcome to my Blog.

Michael's Model Railways: A bigger SWING

http://michaelsrailways.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-bigger-swing.html

Michael Campbell's blog about his model railways. Building model railway layouts in 009 (OO9) scale. Landswood Park (014 Boxfile). Southon Yard (009 Shoebox). Pen-Y-Bryn Quarry (009 "cube"). Sunday, 17 May 2015. Amongst my better photos is this one of (I think) The Orchard Line in GN15, by Simon Andrews, showing the amount of detail possible in a small space using this scale. John Thorne's Bottle Kiln Lane (009) is always a popular layout, with excellent scenery and a fascinating range of locos. So despi...

Wood End and Beyond. The Early Years 78-93. Wood End - The Original. Froxington - The Flop. Morton Stanley 0-16.5. Is a small 4mm scale 009 layout built purely to illustrate a book project. The brief was to build a layout from the ground up using simple kits and then scratch-built items for all buildings and rolling stock. The choice of design was aimed at what a novice could build within a reasonable amount of time with a small toolkit and limited space. The track layout from John Ahern's Gammon End.

Trains by Tess: January 2015

http://trainsbytess.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 18, 2015. An Afternoon of Bench/Trackwork. Laid down some more of the plywood base for the trackwork this afternoon. A test run with my articulated loco and 2 wagons it seems to handle not only the tight curves but the steep grades without even the hint of a hiccup. I ran out of daylight and the mozzies came around for a visit before I managed to complete the upper track loop. Hopefully I can get that done early tomorrow morning so I can give it a better test run. Thursday, January 8, 2015.

Michael's Random Muse

A collection of wonderings about what inspires, or vexes, me on any given day. Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Ever had one of those days when the universe seems strangely out of sync with your own sense of purpose or reality? More than a few? Or worse, the unseen forces that randomly screw with your intentions on a regular basis suddenly seem to be, well, non. And it’s thumbing its nose at you. Incomprehensible. Maddening. Absurd. Set aside for the moment the arguably comforting fact that computers are co...

Michael's Ray Tracing Blog

Michael's Ray Tracing Blog. Friday, May 25, 2012. I'm really sorry for not posting. I, pretty much, wasn't doing anything ray tracing related :(. For starters, I would like to give you a little update:. I'm writting my master's thesis this year and it's about raytracing. However I'm working commercially, for quite some time now, in the Java EE / Spring field, and shamefully enough, I feel like going that direction. So that being said, writting my master's could be my last ray tracing encounter. Photon ma...
