My novel | Michael Wynn

https://michaelwynnauthor.wordpress.com/my-novel

Musings from the edge of an English summer. The Mysterious Affair at Styles. Published. Four years? I can’t wait that long! But…I am waiting. One of my favourite cow photos. Well I’m buzzing and the sun is shining. At last the first draft of my novel is complete and has been unleashed on half a dozen readers. Hopefully they will come back with the flaws, weaknesses and omissions and after a final polish, I can start approaching agents and publishers. A bit of good news though, the lawn mower won’t start.

Chapter 7 – A Feeling I Don’t Want to Know | Michael Wynn

https://michaelwynnauthor.wordpress.com/2017/01/12/chapter-7-a-feeling-i-dont-want-to-know

Musings from the edge of an English summer. Chapter 7 – A Feeling I Don’t Want to Know. January 12, 2017. Alison laid down and listened to his rhythmic breathing. In the dark he was just a lumpy silhouette but she didn’t need light or him to be awake, to know the look of the ever-resident kindness in his still, grey eyes. But, what beyond kindness? She involuntarily compared John’s dark spark to Stuart’s dullness and the pillow began to grow damp from her tears. Stuart stirred, What’s up, babe? Chapter 2...

About | Michael Wynn

https://michaelwynnauthor.wordpress.com/about

Musings from the edge of an English summer. Today I arrive at the point where the nestlings have fledged, my ankles and knees won’t play sport, however much the brain wants to, and there is no longer any ready made excuse for procrastination. The rest is my take on life and what it throws up. I believe there’s beauty or humour or both in everything, and hopefully my posts will reflect that. 7 thoughts on “ About. Chapter 6 – Remember me in Roses | Michael Wynn

https://michaelwynnauthor.wordpress.com/2017/01/05/chapter-6-remember-me-in-roses

Musings from the edge of an English summer. Chapter 6 – Remember me in Roses. January 5, 2017. John watched her stumble down the road, her shaky hand fumble the key. He waited until the door closed behind her. Slowly he edged his car from the kerb and coasted silently down the narrow street. He didn’t know where to go but, home would be too soon. He drove to a park overlooking the Christmas lit town, pulled a CD wallet from beneath the passenger seat and selected, Janis Ian’s ‘Have Mercy Love.’. Chapter ...

Musings from the edge of an English summer. Chapter 3 – Time is on my Side. January 4, 2017. January 4, 2017. You could have called him to fetch you. He turned the ignition, The Stones blared from the radio. He’s probably in bed. She left the excuse in the air, he didn’t question why that would be a problem. You don’t mind do you? It’s on your way. I’m happy doing anything for you, he smiled. Don’t She turned her face to the window as though suddenly finding the terraced housing infinitely interesting.

FF: Note-able Love Story. She took a bus every evening from this secluded bus-stop. She was sad that night and wrote a “I wish I could smile”. And kept it on this bus stop. A Prisoner of Conscience – Clare Hempstead

https://clarehempstead.wordpress.com/2016/11/23/a-prisoner-of-conscience

Reflections on this topsy turvy life. A Prisoner of Conscience. November 23, 2016. His breath was ragged and his voice gravelly from calling out. He was locked in the confined, cold, damp building. Knuckles bleeding from incessant knocking, face covered in a congealed mess of blood and snot, he slithered to his knees, wretched and despondent. The constant drip, drip aggravated his tattered nerves. Why couldn’t I have just turned a blind eye? Have a heart, let me out, he beseeched. Posted in: Flash Fiction.

Small Mercies – Clare Hempstead

Reflections on this topsy turvy life. December 28, 2016. January 5, 2017. PHOTO PROMPT Shaktiki Sharma. I squint my eyes, but the image is no clearer. Cursing, I struggle to read the label, but there is nobody to help. I hurl the bottle, frustrated, then admonish myself for the mess I will have to try to clear up. Count yourself lucky, they said and I suppose I am. Nevertheless, the inability to see clearly, bothers me more than I can describe. It dispossessed me of my husband too. Liked by 1 person.

Chasing The Dragon Under The Bridge – Clare Hempstead

Reflections on this topsy turvy life. Chasing The Dragon Under The Bridge. January 11, 2017. January 11, 2017. PHOTO PROMPT C.E. Ayr. I know I’ll go. I wish I could resist, but know I can’t. I glance at the clock, grab some notes from my purse. I head towards the door, then hesitate. The urge is all-consuming. I race down and wait beneath the bridge trembling. The silver Renault pulls up. Thank God he’s here. The window slides down. Again, I dither; Aaron would still be alive if only I had beaten this.

One Man’s Vintage… – Clare Hempstead

Reflections on this topsy turvy life. One Man’s Vintage…. November 4, 2016. November 9, 2016. PHOTO PROMPT Jean L. Hays. Joan twirled into the kitchen where Bob was washing his hands, having carefully arranged the old metal cart with various other artefacts on the forecourt. What do you think of my new dress? Pretty, but it doesn’t look new, replied her hopelessly unromantic husband. It cost a mint. I bought it for the party Saturday night. Still think it looks second-hand, he mumbled. Get rid of it Bob.
