For our penultimate day we headed out of Franschoek towards Stellenbosch and for our first stop we chose Boschendal Wine Estate which is one of the oldest wine estates in the Franschoek area dating from 1685. As we have had their wine at home before and because it has a manor house I was particularly interested in visiting Boschendal.

The sermon was quite long and mostly in Africaans! It was too hot for a wedding but the church was well ventilated and had lots of doors and windows for the breeze to blow through. Shireen and Fergus had lots of lovely bridemaids in purple and pink dresses and a really cute page boy in a white suit and red bow tie. Congratulations to Shireen and Fergus.

I’d wanted to try some olive tasting for some time and had the opportunity at a place called Morgenster in Somerset West. The owner of the vineyard is Italian and has imported olive trees from Italy and Greece so that the vineyard produces olives and olive oil. Olive and Olive Paste Tasting Plate. Olive Oil Taster Platter. 7 Vineyards in 7 Hours.

We decided to start for 10am and go to the vineyards that are situated north of Paarl. We went to Windmeul which did a Farmers Breakfast for 50 rand which is equivalent to 3.50.
