Sew Dixie Lou. : A round belly and a round cocoon coat
http://www.sewdixielou.com/2015/02/a-round-belly-and-round-cocoon-coat.html
Monday, 23 February 2015. A round belly and a round cocoon coat. I hope this last hurrah of energy means baby Szabobobo is on her way. I've been meaning to blog my coat since November, but just never got round to it. I've been sewing lots (and not just baby stuff), it's just I never really felt like bringing it to the blog - anyone else ever feel the need for a blog sabbatical? For the pattern I chose the Round Coat. For some time I've had this camel coloured wool coating in my stash - it's from Dalston ...

Since, I came round these parts and showed you something I made MINUS a huge, big growing belly full of baby. But, it's no illusion, Mama and Elvis are back in town! So, here it is - McCalls 6436 in a sleeveless version. I wanted a shirt for the summer that would be easy for nursing and just the right shape to remain fitted yet hide some lumps and bumps I'm not prepared to flaunt just yet!

http://www.sewdixielou.com/2014/09/two-netties-and-bump.html
Sunday, 7 September 2014. Two Netties and a Bump. Even though it's been over a month since I last hung out in blogger, I have been sewing and have some overdue makes to share with you all. My recent makes all have a certain thing in common.they stretch(! As I am now 3 1/2 months pregnant with my first bubba! First up is a pattern I am really in love with. Nettie. The fit was perfect and couldn't be more comfortable! I really love the design of the bum and hip area - it's not the vag-slicing cut of the 90...

Sew Dixie Lou. : September 2014
http://www.sewdixielou.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, 29 September 2014. Sewing for the man. Burda 7045 shirt. This latest project was promised almost two years ago. I'm that crappy when it comes to sewing for Mr Szabs. On a trip to Berlin, some moons ago, we went to the very cute and candy store-like Frau Tulpe. If you're ever in Berlin, I definitely recommend taking a trip to Mitte to check this place out. I got some lovely Michael Miller prints and some unique German cotton. As there are two styles and one shirt has the option of darts. In making...

Sew Dixie Lou. : July 2014
http://www.sewdixielou.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 31 July 2014. Another post, another cocktail dress. I assure you readers, my life is really not fancy enough to warrant two consecutive cocktail dresses, but you never know when Don rolls in drunk on Scotch and expects me to seal the deal with Burger Chef. Don, you know I’m veggie! A while back, my boss informed me that I had an industry awards event to attend. Wait. What? I had been hoarding in my stash from Minerva. In one of the final rounds. For my version I used Minerva’s super cool ...

My Oh Sew Vintage Life: September 2014
http://vintageinkfairy.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
My Oh Sew Vintage Life. Monday, 29 September 2014. So I just got a virtual facelift! How do you guys like the new style :). I have been wanting to spruce up my little spot for a while now, but Blogger wouldn't even let me change my colour - nevermind anything else. I was in the process of getting a new blog design for quite a few months, but it all ended up in disaster, so second time round I was a bit gun-shy to say the least. I found Daphne on Etsy. And I could tell just by her listing description.

DIYcouture: The many names of the jumpsuit
http://diy-couture.blogspot.com/2012/06/many-names-of-jumpsuit.html
Friday, 29 June 2012. The many names of the jumpsuit. When designing an all-in-one for my DIY Couture mega book I decided to call it a romper. Not only does the word seem to conjure up the joyfulness denoted by 'jumpsuit' and 'playsuit' but it has a sort of boisterous, action-packed determination about it. I have become fairly enthusiastic about this design and have made a number of versions for myself in different fabrics. I taught people how to make this garment in a one-day workshop. Here are my versi...

DIYcouture: How to make a tulip skirt
http://diy-couture.blogspot.com/2013/02/how-to-make-tulip-skirt.html
Monday, 4 February 2013. How to make a tulip skirt. Was one of the pieces I designed when I first started DIYcouture in 2008. The construction process is similar to the DIYcouture pleated skirt. Cutting shapes to form a front and back, making pleats to bring the waist in, adding a waistband then joining front and back together - but the outcome is very different. It has a voluptuous, grown-up silhouette, accentuating the hips and pinching the body in again at the thighs or knees. Here I'm pinning one of ...

DIYcouture: Lifelong leopard print coat
http://diy-couture.blogspot.com/2014/11/lifelong-leopard-print-coat.html
Sunday, 9 November 2014. Lifelong leopard print coat. I bought this vintage coat pattern many moons ago from Etsy. It sat inside my file labelled 'Sewing Patterns' for a few moons more, along with at least three other coat patterns I've acquired. As this was my chance to make a coat exactly the way I wanted it, I altered the pattern a little, changing the length and sketching out the position for zipped welt pockets. This all happened so long ago I don't know where those socks are anymore. I actually mes...
