Tuesday, May 26, 2015. A new guy in the house. I have lusted after him on the shelf at Home Goods for long enough to see the price go to clearance. So Fred came home with me! If you are lucky, you can go get your own phrenic head! So, why do I like Fred, you might ask. You can learn about phrenology here. Fred has a certain air about him, and I am happy to have him in the family. So I used a small spring hinge closure to make a little bag for who-knows-what. Links to this post. Sunday, May 24, 2015.

frayed edge: summer days
http://emmalinedesign.blogspot.com/2015/07/summer-days.html
Friday, July 10, 2015. I have some summertime pictures to share with you-. Last weekend I got to spend some time with my mom. July 3rd was my dad's birthday, so it was good to be there for one of those "firsts" after his death last January. We did some fun stuff and some work stuff. There were some overgrown plants and weeds that we mostly worked on, so the yard is looking fine. We also went to see Barefoot in the Park at the Okoboji Summer Theater. And a few in Manitoba. Iowa is a long ways from eit...

frayed edge: February 2015
http://emmalinedesign.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 12, 2015. You might recall that last summer we had a major overhaul of our kitchen and bathroom. Turned out wonderfully, and of course, leads to other desires to update our home. Like dominoes falling, so goes the home improvement projects! This is the way it looks now. We need it to become more like this, with wood underneath the posts and covering the edge. I remember when this carpet was laid, the workmen were not very happy about putting the carpet around the posts, and now I under...

Thursday, July 31, 2014. A lot of busyness going on, living every minute with as much oomph as I can muster! A little trauma in our lives last week when Ian had to have a tonsillectomy, not a good experience for a 2 year old that has no concept of what's really happening to him! Well, he is progressing, and that is excellent. The tonsils had to be removed due to hypertrophy, causing airway and swallowing problems. So the fact that he will be able to sleep without apnea and snoring is wonderful! 16 In Bet...

Sunday, May 25, 2014. I had a real nice crease to topstitch down. I have been spending some time on some designs that incorporate the Quilt MN 2014 fabrics. Here is a sample of something I am putting together-. Still a lot of work to do, but we are headed in the right direction! Last weekend we had a fun anniversary getaway up to the North Shore of Lake Superior. We stayed at a place with a view right on the lakeside-. This is a large area of the forest that looks like another world! Links to this post.

one way to do bias applique & knit stitch quilt tutorial-ette

One way to do bias applique & knit stitch quilt tutorial-ette. November 20, 2014. While working on my knit stitch quilt, I figured out one way of doing bias applique that worked for me. This is how it went. First part: Bias tape. I did a small amount of research and found that the people who do crazy small bias applique – the Celtic knot people – use bias bars to make bias tape instead of a bias tape maker. What is the difference? Second part: Getting the bias tape on the foundation. When gluing the loop...

Nothing Like Sharing with Kindred Souls! - Heart-to-Heart
http://www.heart-to-heart.net/nothing-like-sharing-with-kindred-souls
Nothing Like Sharing with Kindred Souls! July 13, 2015 by Chris Smith. Sharing your creativity and your faith with kindred souls truly inspires awe! I got to do that all weekend long, and I feel like non-stop Hallelujahs are bursting out of me! I'd flown to DC to attend the 8th Biennial Sacred Threads. Of course, the exhibit itself was breathtaking. By the way, if you think of quilts only as patchwork for the bed (as beautiful and intricate and glorious as those can be), think again! The next morning, I ...

Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Today things seem a little misplaced here in blogland. My pictures won't line up like I want them to. I am doing a little work-around to even get the pictures in here because the usual system I use is not cooperating, so I will just be happy that I even got the pictures to appear! IKEA does hold a wealth of gadgets and gizmos that can be applied to our quilting hobby. Even the button rug I wrote about not long ago! Hanging nicely on the wall, it helps tame the ruler madness.
