Whole Brainiacs: June 2011
http://wholebrainiacs.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 20, 2011. Whole Lotta Love for Whole Brain Teaching! This year (2010-2011) and was blown away by how quickly the kids picked it up- and loved it! I remember standing there thinking, "Wow, this works. I started it on the 3rd week of school and explained how they had to respond "yes" in the same way I said "class". Their favorite was the "growling ogre" voice I used. And here I was encouraging it! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. ITeach1st- -Saturday Show and Tell WBT.

Whole Brainiacs: The Genius Ladder
http://wholebrainiacs.blogspot.com/2012/07/genius-ladder.html
Wednesday, July 4, 2012. I would read through the ladder and we'd point out what made the sentence "spicy", "extended", etc. I would then circle the adjectives and conjunctions they found. Students started writing additional detail sentences on their own- without my even having to prompt them! Check out the video. July 10, 2012 at 5:49 AM. I like how you used the Genius Ladder. I might use if for morning work a few days a week with my first graders. Thanks for sharing. Mrs Smiths First Grade Class.

Whole Brain With Roxi Shayne: Louisiana Teachers
http://wholebrainwithroxishayne.blogspot.com/2012/06/louisiana-teachers.html
Thursday, June 14, 2012. Just a thought. In the old English system of education if indigent (poor) parents would declare themselves paupers, their children could be sent to specified private or pay schools for a free education. How is this different from what we are asking of families who accept vouchers? To be separated from the rest of the community as a distinct and inferior caste, and held out to the world as the objects of public charity, is a degradation too humiliating for the pride of freemen.".

Thursday, August 4, 2011. I'm all about taking pictures this week! My previous post has pics of my Scoreboard, my PowerPix "wall", the Rules posters, and the beginnings of my Genius Ladder. Below are pics of my front door (I'll add students' names to the apples as I get my class list), a space for Ten Minute Writing (on the inside of the front door so they can place Post-its on their way out the door), and an updated picture of the Genius Ladder.
