Real Modern. Quilting. I’m having a little panic attack. February 27, 2017. To fill the time in the early morning hours when I can’t sleep, I’ve been sitting at my computer searching for the magic crocheting or knitting YouTube video that will finally teach me how to use my hooks and needles. I also have a couple of quilts that I need to cut out so that when I’m mechanized again, I can whip out those projects in an afternoon or two. Return to 36 Charm Street. February 23, 2017. Snowflake Mini Quilt Pattern – Gray Barn Designs
https://graybarndesigns.com/2017/01/09/snowflake-mini-quilt-pattern
Real Modern. Quilting. Snowflake Mini Quilt Pattern. January 9, 2017. January 10, 2017. It’s January and very snowy in Ohio. I decided to design a Snowflake Mini Quilt just for fun. What do you think? I used two metallic prints from Hoffman Fabrics Sparkle and Fade Line. These fabrics have shimmery metallic details and reminded me of how fresh snow glistens on a sunny day. I used two different shades of gray paint to stencil the word “SNOW”. Then I machine quilted around each letter. I love mini quilts!

Snuggling Down – Gray Barn Designs
https://graybarndesigns.com/2016/12/29/snuggling-down
Real Modern. Quilting. December 29, 2016. After a freakishly warm Christmas Day, the weather here in WNY has taken a turn for the winter. I don’t know why, but I rarely catch any pictures of the big day, but I did manage to wrestle my teenager into a family picture in front of the tree. Dad had to photobomb his way in! This morning, we woke up to a mild Hollywood-style snowstorm with big, fat flakes tumbling down out of a puffy, white sky. Sorry in advance, kitty! Of Missouri Star Quilt Company. PS This ...

Blankets Tossed! – Gray Barn Designs
https://graybarndesigns.com/2017/01/05/blankets-tossed
Real Modern. Quilting. January 5, 2017. At Christmas, Sandy and I discovered the cutest pin cushion ever. Santa (a.k.a. sister Sue) gave us each a Blanket Toss Pin Cushion from Alaska. What is a blanket toss you might ask? Site describes it best. A native Inupiaq hunter was tossed in the air from the hides of walrus or seal in hopes of spotting game on the horizon. The blanket toss is now used for celebration purposes…yikes! Maybe it was the inspiration for bungee jumping? Out With The Old! I have one I ...

A new take on Valentine’s Day – Gray Barn Designs

Real Modern. Quilting. A new take on Valentine’s Day. January 11, 2017. January 11, 2017. Now that it’s mid-January, and the house has officially been de-Christmased for a few minutes, isn’t it time for another dose of red? And emojis are different from emoticons, if you know what I mean 😉 Here’s some history. While researching my quilt, I discovered that there is something called emoji etiquette. Darn, another new thing to learn! Wall quilt top done — hurry up Ms. G! Stay lovable, my friends! Tagged: e...
