MonasticJournal

A chronicle of the Monk Family, especially the kids, since we know that's all you're really interested in anyway. Tuesday, September 07, 2010. I have to give a shout out to Maddie here. Since late middle school she's been very self sufficient with school and grades. Last year she finished the semester with all As, and got a letter from the principal congratulating her for this. She sets a great example for her siblings, and I hope they are able to follow her. Monday, September 06, 2010. Ellie went to Fro...

MonasticJournal: Ground Zero

http://monasticjournal.blogspot.com/2008/05/ground-zero.html

A chronicle of the Monk Family, especially the kids, since we know that's all you're really interested in anyway. Wednesday, May 21, 2008. I took another trip to New York for a business conference. On the second day, my friend Laura and I braved the subway to visit the memorial at Ground Zero. It was very sobering, and interesting to see all the construction and rebuilding that's being done there. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. A chronicle of the Monk Family, especially the kids, since we know that's all you're really interested in anyway. Sunday, July 27, 2008. Ellie went to Frontier Camp in Grapeland, TX for the first time this week. After arriving at camp, the kids set up their beds and immediately go for swim test, while the parents make the trek home to a week of peace. Here's Ben with some of his friends right before the test. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The Suburban Tomato Liberation Front.

http://monasticjournal.blogspot.com/2008/06/jerry-chicken.html

A chronicle of the Monk Family, especially the kids, since we know that's all you're really interested in anyway. Saturday, June 21, 2008. Look on Sammy's shoulder - it's Jerry Chicken, his birthday present and new pet. Jerry is a Leopard Gecko lizard. We don't actually know if Jerry is a boy or girl yet, but we figured that Jerry can go either way. Chicken is all Sammy - I think it's from some silly cartoon he watches, but I'm not really sure. Sammy is just the cutest! June 23, 2008 1:12 PM.

http://alicehaddow.blogspot.com/2008/10/go-figure.html

A blog to help mothers whose children grow up, leave home, then multiply, and choose to return home - over and over again. Thursday, October 23, 2008. Alice Haddow's House for Grownups (AHHG) Rules. As a mother of six, now a grandmother of four beautiful grandbabies, there is one truth: When the kids leave the nest, they multiply and then come back - over and over again. Now, six years later, it dawns on me this is a constant struggle, and it is one the must be experienced by tens of thousands, if not mi...

A blog to help mothers whose children grow up, leave home, then multiply, and choose to return home - over and over again. Tuesday, December 9, 2008. What We Should Have Done. I have noted in recent weeks the existence of an organization called the Small House Society. They cite as a motto the notion of "better living through simplicity." My experience draws me to this motto like a moth to the light. How do I know this? The Allen Update (Katy and Mark). Alice Haddow: Bits and Pieces. Thank you for visiti...

Monastic In The Suburbs

Monastic In The Suburbs. April 9, 2015. A cell with a view. Writing 101, Day 2. Choose a place to which you’d like to be transported if you could and tell us the backstory. That’s a pretty easy place to go to: my ideal monastic cell. It’s found in a monastery with a liturgy as pure as that of the Trappistines at Valserena, a location as spectacular as had the monks of Iona, and an openness to the world of information technology like that of the Holy Trinity Benedictines in Herefordshire. April 7, 2015.

In A Sentence .org. The best little site that helps you understand word usage with examples. Monasticism in a sentence. While a completely individual monastic lifestyle has been practiced, it is rare in the history of Western. Even the Desert Fathers, one of the earliest forms of Christian. Though often viewed as making a radical break from their society, distanced themselves from society in general but not from all humans specifically. I would go so far as to say that. Use arrestors in a sentence. While...
