19 October 1942 - 19 November 2000. Carolyn was diagnosed with cancer during the summer of 1999. She fought the disease courageously, undergoing unpleasant chemo sessions and receiving surgery and other treatment without complaint. Shared some of their memories of Carolyn at the thanksgiving service commemorating her life and their testimonies can be read here. Written tributes, by Jeremy. HOW IT ALL BEGAN. Once upon a time, a long, long time ago (1978), the Allan family decided to rent a cottage in the Lake District for the Easter holidays and invited their old friends, the Fallows family, to join them. We stayed at Croftfoot. A old farmhouse in Ennerdale, surrounded by fields of sheep and with beautiful views of the lake and mountains. We went walking every day and had a huge Christmas-like feast on Easter Day. At Croftfoot, Easter 1978. THE BIRTH OF THE FALLANS. And Red Hand Gang.

Have taken many hundreds of slides and photographs over the years. Geoffrey wrote in the Log in 1987 that the departure photographs alone, if lined up end to end, would have stretched from Pooley Mill to the Kirkstone Pass.
