I saw the Giant Buddha and it was AWESOME - Mountains and Passports

http://mountainsandpassports.com/2014/05/06/i-saw-the-giant-buddha-and-it-was-awesome

Month 5 & 6. I saw the Giant Buddha and it was AWESOME. I saw the Giant Buddha and it was AWESOME. The school gave us a three-day weekend so I took a 4 hour bus ride to Leshan (It literally translates to Happy Mountain) to see the worlds largest Buddha. Navigating the bus station was NOT an easy task. There is a special place in heaven for Chinese college students who volunteer to translate when you get stuck. I couldn’t read the sign, but this is def not Buddha. Shiva maybe? Someone a bit more Indian?

Month 5 & 6. Songpan and Why I Hated It. Songpan and Why I Hated It. I love Sichuan. I basically tell anyone who is willing to listen that Sichuan is completely amazing and they should come here and eat mapo dofu until they explode (or something along those lines anyways). I told people how I came here because I could travel just in Sichuan for a year and be happy and made my Sichuan travel list. Which I’ve sort of been bombing on) but there is one destination that I completely hated. Songpan. I did not ...

Travel food photography serial expat blog. Five years on: How I moved abroad after college and built a career through travel. May 19, 2015. This week marks the five-year anniversary of my college graduation. Well I. feel. old. When I graduated from the Class of 2010, I was 20 years old, had $700 to my name — and zero clue what to do next. This is the story of how in the five years since, I’ve lived in four countries, traveled to 24 (including 20 in one year. Backing up: Why am I writing this? You should ...

💗 Love To Discover 💗. An avid traveller, sharing my experiences abroad. Viva Italia continued: Roma and Venezia 🇮🇹🍕😍🍝🍦. September 23, 2014. Where Topdeck Tours stayed: Camping Roma. Once again, our tour was staying at a campsite, called PLUS Camping Roma. Each of us stayed in twin share bungalows, which also contains a shower and toilet. The only downside? The shower in my room had no hot water. Considering Rome gets quite humid, all I wanted was a nice shower to wash the stickiness away. Everybo...

Monday, 20 October 2014. Discovering the Golden Circle with Time Tours Iceland. Did you see the red sunrise? Rúnar asked us as we clambered into the minibus. There was to be no off- road- never- before- driven- mountain- tracks. Today (sorry to disappoint you all). Three of us, plus Rúnar, reuniting from our Northern Lights. Tour two nights before (the night we'd been unsuccessful). We had a quick stop to pick up Áslaug, also from Time Tours. Such a beautiful place. Hveragerði, a name derived from the Ic...

The Things We Leave Behind When We Travel . Posted in - Travel Resources. On May 19th, 2015. Everyone writes about the things they take on the road. We all do it bloggers, magazine editors, celebrity chefs. Why? But what about the stuff we leave behind? Everyone’s got something or someone they leave behind when the road calls, don’t they? Or an extended trip through Europe and how, if possible, we deal with those things from the road. Expect nothing. Enjoy everything. Expectations are a funny thing, espe...

Travel Off the Beaten Path. Iran: The World’s Next Big Tourist Destination? September 19, 2014. It’s no secret that Iran doesn’t have a very positive reputation in the West. Ask one of your friends what they think about Iran, and they might start talking about nuclear weapons and wars. Ask them what they think about traveling to Iran, and they’ll probably respond with another question: Why would you ever want to go there? The warmth and hospitality I experienced there was staggering and quickly turned wh...

Mountains, Oceans and Volcanoes. There and back again. Saturday, 7 September 2013. I don't consider myself a very sentimental person, but that is apparently a bunch of nonsense. First Day of School! Unusually for me I didn't even bring my camera. I think in part it was because we were originally told it was only going to be a part day and not with the same teacher they would end up with, so it sort of felt like no big deal. Well, I was wrong.
