Equations are a comparison of items that are equal to each other for a certain value which may or may not be unknown. Examples: 3 2 = 5; -2x -3 = 5x; 4y 3 = 20. Functions are number sentences where a number can be input and has an output based on the definition of the number sentence. Examples: g(x)= -2x – 3 for all x;.
