little preschool on the prairie: a sneak peak at the new mini-light studio and writing table
http://mserinsroom.blogspot.com/2010/08/sneak-peak-at-new-light-studio-and.html
Thursday, August 12, 2010. A sneak peak at the new mini-light studio and writing table. They took my classroom apart to wax the floors. It is both a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing because I can change it around and rethink different areas with a clean slate. It is a curse because Ive logged in 60 hours so far in doing so. But it's well worth it, I think. In between the wet art area and the writing table to help define the areas while maintaing an open feel. A close up of the light studio:. August...

Thursday, June 10, 2010. Reclaimed mesh weaving project. After my return from one of Bev Boss's. Workshops, I felt inspired to use recycled materials for future projects. Others longer and wove the ribbon through the holes. As soon as I can get back into my classroom this fall, and figure out where to hang our art, I will post a photo of the completed version. little preschool on the prairie: May 2012
http://mserinsroom.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 14, 2012. T his project started when M and H were going to visit one another after school. They told me that they were going to play Angry Birds. In the block area, M began create structures adorned with pigs represented by cups or plastic flowers (from our collection of loose parts). Many children came to check it out and talk about their experience with Angry Birds. While they were building I discreetly set their journals beside them in hopes they would draw. They got the message. Our 'beau...
little preschool on the prairie: skyscrapers, in another "language"-
http://mserinsroom.blogspot.com/2012/02/skyscrapers-in-another-language.html
Monday, February 20, 2012. Skyscrapers, in another "language"-. The children are constantly constructing skyscrapers in the block area, with blocks, Legos, and anything at all that is stackable. They frequently talk about the Willis Tower and tend to refer to a coffee table book depicting many of the skyscrapers along the Chicago skyline while they play. So the children have been enjoying stacking (and demolishing) their "skyscrapers" formulating and reformulating their structures every day. Can I put a ...
little preschool on the prairie: our 'beautiful stuff'ed envelopes
http://mserinsroom.blogspot.com/2010/10/our-beautiful-stuffed-envelopes.html
Thursday, October 14, 2010. Our 'beautiful stuff'ed envelopes. A few years ago our center collected items from home. They were sorted by color and displayed in the hallway until the university's education students dismantled them to display their educational projects. The beautiful jars of found objects lived in a box in the closet until I dragged them back out and set them out on the table, uncapped. Posted by Ms. Erin's HeartRoom. October 14, 2010 at 9:26 PM. October 15, 2010 at 3:18 PM. I would love t...

the diary of j: :: sensory play: rice ::
http://hislittleworldofwonder.blogspot.com/2010/07/sensory-play-rice.html
Monday, July 26, 2010. Sensory play: rice :. Similar to my post about refilling the bird feeder. I let my little guy play with rice. Children learn about the world through their senses, so I try to provide as many sensory experiences for them as possible. My preschool. Children love when their sand table has rice in it as well. It just pours so well, and it is great for digging little hands into. Here is lil man in his typical set up:. Digging hands in (you can tell it feels good by the little smile):.

Thursday, November 8, 2012. A present for the new tree. One last blog post I found as a draft. Recently 'Facilities' came to our playground with with a front-end loader to dig a hole and plant a tree. The children watched carefully as the hole was dug with the auger and the tree was planted by the workers. As they watched they journaled what they saw. After the tree was planted the children talked to the tree and ran up to give it hugs in welcome. We had just discovered the book. M: It's really nice.

Erin Taylor | Standing in His Splendor
Standing in His Splendor. Come Father from the Fringes. April 30, 2014. Worry and stress permeate when the gospel is not big enough or constrained to a small portion our life, unable to bring life to. The Lord or me? And with deep tragedy in my soul, forsaking my Maker and abandoning the truth, I wonder why the worries of the world are destroying me. Why isn’t the Gospel working? Because it isn’t the Gospel at all. Jesus came and liberated. So why do I live in fear? Am I willing to oppose cultural norms ...
