For One to Love

Music can be a form of perfection - with nothing added or subtracted, flawless just the way it is. For One to Love. Cecile, McLorin, Salvant. It would not be possible, if she didn’t bravely put herself out there. But she did and the results are phenomenal. Finally, Cécile’s new album! I’ve written about Cécile McLorin Salvant before. If you haven’t already, I recommend you listen to her first album WomanChild. It’s a great start and shows perfectly why she’s so loved and adored by both critics and fa...

Music can be a form of perfection - with nothing added or subtracted, flawless just the way it is. An example of what they sound like. I think it goes without saying that it’s a completely different thing hearing them live. It’s hearing them live when you can so easily feel all the energy and joy that they exuberate. Music can be a form of perfection - with nothing added or subtracted, flawless just the way it is. Most people will know him through songs like Take Five. Or Blue Rondo A La Turk. Maybe you don’t even know you know him, but most likely you’ve heard these songs before. I think he’s very easy to listen to, but he also has so much to offer. I recommend him to anyone, to long time jazz lovers as well as to people who are just getting into jazz. He wasn’t being praised so much for nothing. Could God be black?

Hearing Music For The First Time

Music can be a form of perfection - with nothing added or subtracted, flawless just the way it is. Hearing Music For The First Time. There are days when I’ll put on one of Satchmo’s records and just love and enjoy the music. Then there are days when I put on his music and listen in admiration. AND THEN there are days when I’m doing something else entirely and simply have some music playing. After listening to what surely must be hundreds of hours of his music, how can his music still sound so fresh?

How I got into jazz

Music can be a form of perfection - with nothing added or subtracted, flawless just the way it is. How I got into jazz. Jazz, Louis, Armstrong, Story. The story about discovering my passion. It should be clear to anyone reading this blog that I’m really into music. To me, it’s one of the finest things life has to offer. The music I listen to and enjoy is something I identify myself with. It isn’t an overstatement to say that it’s a part of who I am. But it hasn’t always been like this. Nowadays, I listen...

MUSINGS ON MURDER

8220;A study in scarlet, eh? Why shouldn't we use a little art jargon? There's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it.” - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Thoughts on writing and more. Sunday, July 05, 2015. I finally was able to recover the password for this blog! As you can see, I haven't been able to post here for a long time. I had been writing a private blog for a while, but with all the recent activity developing "E Pluribus Hugo" (our proposed new nomination system for the Hugo Awards), I had wanted to transfer some of those posts and get started back up on the blog. What happens when you judge me? 8221; Is a phrase that is often uttered when we want to assure ourselves that the person we are judging is heinously sinning. The only acceptable way to judge another person’s actions is if it is done with a heart of love, compassion, and the desire to help someone grow in Christ. That’s it! I’ve Been Distracted. Musings On My Life – Making Sense of It One Day At a Time

Musings On My Life. Making Sense of It One Day At a Time. Two Rooms Plus Utilities. Living in the land of the forgotten, brings a huge number of problems, that most wouldn’t even ever think about. Musings on Nature (and other things)

Musings on Nature (and other things). When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world." John Muir (Misquoted). Sunday, January 20, 2013. There are many places, people and things that I love. But not too many to which I can truly attach the phrase "In love with". The other day as I was driving around work (i.e. Antelope Island State Park), that phrase struck me as the feeling I was having toward that place. Yep, I am in love with Antelope Island.
