Old England to New England. An Englishman in New England. On Confronting My Yoga Phobia and Why You Should Try New Things. August 17, 2015. August 17, 2015. There are a number of places where you would never expect to see me; at Donald Trump fundraiser, inside a Taco Bell or at a yoga session. This is where the yoga happens. I was so relaxed I stayed in the park after the session until dusk. That’s my motto for the week. Shakespeare in the park was good too! What do you think of yoga? The first time I us...

The landmine is me. After the explosion, I spend the rest of the day putting the pieces together. Because I don’t do a quick first draft and then revise it, I have plenty of time to let the subconscious work; therefore, I am led to surprise after surprise that enriches story and deepens character. In an online interv...

From Vinho Verde to Barolo with Love. Life reflected in wine. Travels by Vine; a Log of Vineyard Visits. Last spring a friend in my wine tasting group, who is also a certified specialist of wine, asked me if I would be interested in co-authoring an introductory wine book with him. After thinking about it for roughly three seconds, the amount of time it took me to consider how much I love wine and how much I love to write, I said, ‘yes, yes I would.’. A few weeks ago I was heading to Cashiers, North Carolina for what was heralded as the answer to my recent writer’s weariness. I’d been driving for several hours, twisting up winding roads where the earth falls away into deep gullies and the air grows thin and the mountain walls weep.
