Dorothy’s Training Blog. A record of my adventures in multisport. Posted November 2, 2008. So this past week I ran and swam as usual, but rode only twice, and next week I’ll do something similar or even less, and the plan is to take the following week off entirely. Laquo; Previous Post. 4 comments so far. On November 2, 2008. I hope your aches and pains go away as you take some recovery time. I don’t stretch enough, but am trying to get better about that! Dorothy’s Training Blog. A record of my adventures in multisport. Posted January 5, 2009. I got outside on the bike for the first time in 2009 today; the ride was okay — it was 30s and not windy which feels pretty comfortable — but my God am I out of shape. That’s what a few weeks off does to me, I suppose. My legs felt okay, but my HR was so high I don’t want to give the number. Too embarrassing. Swim class ». 2 comments so far. On January 5, 2009. Dorothy’s Training Blog. A record of my adventures in multisport. Posted December 2, 2008. My current swimming teacher said this evening that the improvement I’ve made since the summer is “incredible.” Woo-hoo! I’m still no great swimmer (by any means), but it’s nice to be improving. Tonight’s swim was 1800: 500 meters warm-up, 800 meters of various drills, and then a 50, 100, 150, and 200, working hard on the last 50 in each set. Laquo; Previous Post. 2 comments so far. Dorothy’s Training Blog. A record of my adventures in multisport. Posted October 23, 2008. I had a good swim workout yesterday, more challenging than Tuesday’s. I swam 2400 meters, which is a new record for me. It took me a little over one hour. The workout was something like this (all free):. 500 on 12:30 (which gave me over a minute of rest). 200 on 4:30 (by this point I’m not getting a whole lot of rest at all). 8×25 on :45 (this was easy — I had at least 15 seconds rest each time). 4×50 on 1:15.

Sarah's Cycling Blog: August Metric

http://cycling4fun.blogspot.com/2009/08/august-metric.html

Monday, August 31, 2009. A break in the humidity happened just in time for me to get my August metric century with a few days to spare! I rode X6 and started off very well, but mid way my feet got very sore with a pins and needles sensation and it killed my tempo. I also ran out of water and was painfully dry as the weather was still pretty hot. At Sachuest Point, I stopped short to get a photo of this buck with velvety antlers. He wasn't at all frightened, even walking toward me a little! I'm really loo...

Sarah's Cycling Blog: Jamestown Classic 2009

http://cycling4fun.blogspot.com/2009/10/jamestown-classic-2009.html

Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Monday, Jeff and I met up with Chris. And Debby at the Jamestown Classic. A road race. We left the truck at one of the parks and rode our 'cross bikes over to the bottom of Hamilton Hill so we would have 4 chances to see Chris go by during his 2 laps of the island. Once again, we played Where's. I've added a couple of arrows to Chris in the following two shots. We actually saw him really easily, but weren't lined up right for pictures. How cool is this? Though sized a bit small...

If you have any advice or can refer me to other good books or online sources, please let me know. It's something I'll ease into. I know I'm not going to make sense of it all overnight! I can't get enough baby spinach lately! Sunday, February 22, 2009. I did 5 days of riding and 100.90 miles all on the trainer this past week. I decided to take Friday and Saturday off to rest and try t...I've ...

Thursday, December 24, 2009. I have been a horrible blog slacker, but wanted to sign in to wish everyone a happy Christmastime and New Year! No biking to report on lately with a painful knee and too many distractions! But you can see lots of winter fun is being had, including playtime in the snow with the dogs, on my general/not tracking fitness stats type of blog. Scan of a vintage card from my Grandmother's scrapbook.). You are not the only blogger slacker, I am in that boat too! I want a snow cave.

Saturday, June 20, 2009. Cheering at a Crit. Today we had a great day out with our friends Chris and Debby. We met up in Ninigret, RI at the Mystic Velo Criterium. Where Chris was racing Cat 3. This was the first time I'd tried to take pics of him racing in this year's kit, so I had to get used to looking for him in it! After a while, I could pick him out pretty well. It's easier to see than the previous one that was dark colors. Go, Chris, Go! 2 short video clips from Cat 3 race. Tuesday, June 16, 2009.

Sarah's Cycling Blog: May 2009

http://cycling4fun.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 23, 2009. Happy Memorial Day weekend to those celebrating! It's officially planting time here in New England and I've been going around to the garden shops for supplies and working on the yard. Here's the freshly mulched herb bed by the patio/grill area. You can see a bit of oregano, thyme, sage and basil. I also have some other things like parsley, lavender, horehound and marjoram. Sunday, May 17, 2009. Yesterday was a milestone day, but not because of bike stats! There are so many things ...

Sarah's Cycling Blog: September Metric Century

http://cycling4fun.blogspot.com/2009/09/september-metric-century.html

Monday, September 28, 2009. It's hard to believe that the goldenrod is blooming and it is officially fall! I am so happy with the drier weather. Saturday, I had a beautiful, sunny day for my metric. Once again, I postponed it toward the end the month and started to worry if I'd get it done, especially when I canceled one attempt due to lack of willingness to fight regular gusts of 30mph for 63 miles! The evidence from Garmin, showing 62.23 miles (just enough! September 29, 2009 at 2:34 AM. Lets hope its ...

Saturday, January 9, 2010. A bit of a fizzle.but let's try to find the bright spots, OK? Trio's Metric Century A Month Challenge.I did 10/12. Still, I think it was pretty good considering my New England environment, though I succumbed in the end to knee pain, not weather. Unfortunately, my knee continues to be sore despite all the rest with pedaling and stairs being the most problematic. Here is my overview table of riding by month. And the percentage of miles per bike/trainer as shown below. So, thinkin...

Racing diary

A record of the races I've attended. Entered six weeks earlier, when it seemed like a really good idea. Then, sort of forgot about it. The first half was really pleasant. Nice weather with nice steady running and plodding up the ups. We made the cut off with twelve or so minutes to spare. After then, it all went, a lot, less pleasant. The energy zapping bogs taking everything out of my legs, leaving me, uninterested in running the last few miles. Another enjoyable run around Church Stretton, Shropshire.
