My Walk on the Appalachian Trail: Black Mountain Side Trip
http://mywalkontheat.blogspot.com/2016/05/black-mountain-side-trip.html
My Walk on the Appalachian Trail. Saturday, May 7, 2016. Black Mountain Side Trip. My original plan was for us to drive to Erwin, TN and spend Saturday night at Uncle Johnny's Hostel. Good food, cold beer and some mountain tunes.I was suddenly glad that Uncle Johnny's Hostel had lost my reservation. Unfortunately they weren't playing on this particular evening. That just gives me another excuse to bring Colin back sometime soon. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). AT Hiking Blog Archive. We Have Lift Off!
My Walk on the Appalachian Trail: May 2016
http://mywalkontheat.blogspot.com/2016_05_01_archive.html
My Walk on the Appalachian Trail. Saturday, May 7, 2016. Going downhill was no picnic. It was muddy and very rocky which meant that you had to take it slow and steady. A twisted ankle or broken bone out here isn't something you want to experience. It was about 6:45pm when we finally exited the woods at Spivey Gap. We did it! By the way, here is a link to a neat app that helps calculates your AT hiking distance. All Downhill from Here. The one disappointing thing about hiking 22 miles in one day is that w...
My Walk on the Appalachian Trail: August 2011
http://mywalkontheat.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
My Walk on the Appalachian Trail. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Hike #3 - Parting Thoughts and Observations. Hard to believe that a full year has passed since I first stepped on the trail. We hiked 32.4 miles this trip. I have completed a total of 83.3 miles of the AT with about 2,091.7 miles left to go. It doesn't take a son of a math teacher to calculate that at this pace I will likely finish up around age 70. Is that a long time? Yes Will I make it to the end? Saying Goodbye to Georgia. Never heard of it,...

My Walk on the Appalachian Trail. Saturday, May 7, 2016. All Downhill from Here. The skies were still overcast and the temperature never seemed to get above 65 degrees. We had about 7 miles left on our day's journey and we were glad that most of it was going down in elevation. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). AT Hiking Blog Archive. All Downhill from Here. My Walk on the Appalachian Trail: Devil Fork Gap to Sam's Gap
http://mywalkontheat.blogspot.com/2016/05/devil-fork-gap-to-sams-gap.html
My Walk on the Appalachian Trail. Saturday, May 7, 2016. Devil Fork Gap to Sam's Gap. My Appalachian Trail Guide has my day's hike broken into two sections. The first being a 8.5 mile hike to Sam's Gap. As we begin, we almost immediately start going up and up and up some more. We will go from about 3,000 ft. in elevation to over 4,500 ft. before getting to Sam's Gap which is at about 3,800 ft. There is still a dusting a newly fallen snow all around, especially on the North side of the hills. The path...

Carolina Appalachian Trail Mom: July 2012
http://carolinaatmom.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Carolina Appalachian Trail Mom. Monday, July 30, 2012. Loner beyond Kent, CT. Sorry I haven't written in a while, still not feeling myself, a few complications along with the Fibromyalgia, probably not Lyme, my doc says since he's only seen in case in SC and he's been in practice a long time. But Loner had better news - he may be in Mass, his home state by now. He last wrote to me on July 26th and posted 9 more videos on his You Tube Video blog at Loner2012AT. And he's finally met up with Fatherman.

Walk of Life Postcards
Walk of Life Postcards. Wednesday, October 15, 2014. I have been doing some soul searching during my recent walks amongst the changing colours of Fall. I am trying to decide if I need to change course with my blogging. Last year after our return from our French adventure I started a new blog to record my "postcards" about my day to day adventures, my walks, our travels, etc. . it worked for me as my personal journal, a place to jot down my thoughts and share some of my photos. Which path will I choose?

Walking On Water
Inspirational Quotes and Verses. Prayer Requests (Yours and Mine). Thursday, August 25, 2011. He Who Began a Good Work. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Eing confident of this, that he ...
